Locked Operations Pro issues #operationspro

Guys,
I posted earlier that I am not able to assign a locomotive to passenger service.?
I have tried this wil multiple locomotives amd if I change any one of my 2-6-0 from Light Steam to Steam-Pass, all of my 2-6-0 change to Steam Pass not just one loco.
Same with my 2-8-0. they are all set to Heavy Steam and if I change one to Steam Pass or even Gas Turbine for example, they all change.
A friend who uses JMRI Operations tried this on his computer with the same result. It seems that if a group of locos have the same type and one is changed to a different type, all locos of that type change.

Regards,
Keith

OK Keith,
?
This one is a bit tricky.? I had to delete an earlier response as I hadn't tested my theory for the right answer.
?
If you want a specialized loco to pull only your passenger train AND you don't want the program to change all your steamers to the new type, you must create a sub-set model of a new Passenger type.
?
Follow along...
?
  1. Click on "Add Locomotive" from the Locomotives window.
  2. Click the "Edit" button for the Type of loco.
  3. Create a new named Type, say "Pass/Steam", clicking the Add button.
  4. Close the Edit Type window.
  5. While still in the Add Loco window, click the "Edit" button for Model of loco.
  6. Create a new named Model to be associated with your newly created Type.? If you use the Whyte system, I suggest "(2-6-0)" without the quotes.
  7. Close the Edit Model window.
  8. Reselect the new Model from the pull-down list.
  9. Associate that Model with the new Type and save.
This should give you a new Model called "(2-6-0)" of a Type called "Pass/Steam".??
?
Now you would need locations to service this Type, making or allowing tracks to hold the new Type.? Remember to set up tracks at both ends of your train's intended route so the program can both pick-up and set-out the new loco.
Then you can tell individual trains to "be serviced" only by that Type of loco.?

Of course, you will also need to set the passenger train in question to have an "optional locomotive requirement" of at 1 loco.?
If you create more than one model (let's say you create another Model called "Pacific") and associate that model with the new Type, then for each train, you can pick which model to pull that train.? This is set in the Edit Train window, under the section labelled "optional locomotive requirements"...
?
I told you this was tricky, but I did test this all out and it should work if you get all the specifics correct.
?
Happy to help, hope it helps,

Pete,
Thank you for your help. I am going to try your suggestion. I will report back if this works. I seem to be having all kinds of problems at the moment. Not only will my passenger trains build, all my freight trains will build. however when I print the manifests, there are no locos or any cars showing despite the trains building and showing that they are "okay".
I am in over my head right now and a friend who is much more familiar with Operations Pro is trying to help me too.

I will keep on trying and hopefully either my friend or I will somehow figure this out,
Regards,
Keith
