Locked JMRI Operations Question #operationspro

Greetings from NYC!

I'm fairly new to JMRI Operations (but not to Operations or Operations software) and I've hit a snag.
I'm setting up JMRI Operations for my club's first operating session in some time (Queens County Model Railroad Association). I've set up a car roster, locations and spurs, routes and trains. I've checked that the trains can handle the car types for those particular locations. When I create a turn (train from the yard to a location and back) the train? will only add cars to the train for empty spots at the location. For example, if a location has four spots and three of them are filled, the yard will only put one car on the train for that location, despite the fact that the train will pick up the cars in the other three spots before heading back to the yard. How can I change this?

Thank you in advance for any help I can get,

Steven,

If you want to swap cars in your yard, you'll need to use the "Aggressive Mode" when building your trains.

Thank you. That's in the settings pane?

Another solution (besides aggressive which has some unfortunate side effects) is to list that location twice in the route, the first will be pickups only and the second will be set outs. That will force the pickups first and the spur will have enough spots when the setouts are generated.
