Locked Digitrax decoder firmware

Hi all,
Is it possible to add a digitrax decoder firmware reflash option to a future JMRI update?
I have a few now that a uhlenbrock intellibox seem to have corrupted the firmware in.

Cheers
Stu

I've never heard of reflashing Digitrax decoders so would have to say no.

Most issues if you haven't fried the decoder can be fixed by doing a factory reset of the decoder. With your roster entry open, click on -- Reset -- in the top menu bar followed by -- factory reset -- in the drop down menu. Depending on the decoder, one or more reset options will appear. Click on the appropriate one for your case (probably be reset all CV's).

The next obvious question is: On what hardware is the original poster wishing to update firmware?

As Marc points out, some Digitrax LocoNet-connected hardware (and some non-Digitrax hardware, too) can be updated using the "Download Firmware" feature under what typically shows up as the "LocoNet" Menu.

Note that some recent Digitrax hardware is _not_ updatable using JMRI because that hardware _requires_ a different procedure than is supported by JMRI. If JMRI is asked to read such a firmware update file, it will check the procedure required by the firmware file, and will report to the user if the required procedure is not available.

As Marc points out, some Digitrax mobile decoders allow downloading of "sound project" information, and JMRI is able to update the Digitrax sound decoder in much the same way as the Digitrax "SoundLoader" program.

So far as I can tell, the "sound project" includes information on "sound snippets and how the decoder uses them", but does not include anything along the lines of the "code which defines how the decoder behaves". So far as I know, Digitrax has not released any decoders which allow updating of that basic mobile decoder functionality. Of course, there is nothing saying that Digitrax will not release such a decoder in the future, though.

Billybob

Hi all,
I (and others) have this issue with various digitrax decoders. (DH123D, DH126D, DH166MT, DH126MT, DH165LO, DN136D, DZ146PS)
When running them on a uhlenbrock intellibox command station the sequence of event is as follows:
Firstly the light starts to blink, then goes out completely.
Then all fine motor speed control is lost.?
A decoder reset seems to fix the lighting issue but the fine motor speed control remains useless. (That is why I am thinking that the firmware in the decoder has been corrupted by the command station)?
Exactly the same thing happens regardless of the command station or decoder settings. It seems to me that all digitrax decoders are in no way compatible with a uhlenbrock intellibox command station.

Does the Intellibox have RailCom enabled ????

If so, ?try with that turned off ¨C my experience is that several Digitrax decoder types don¡¯t like RailCom.

?

I really doubt that there is a change to the decoder firmware happening.?
