If the train is not terminated after building, cars appear in the previous (starting) locations when JMRI is restarted or restored.? I did not see the word "terminate" in any discussion.

Sorry, I left out that when I "reset", train status becomes "Train reset" as it should.

I uninstalled Version 5.6, and installed version 5.8.? When I ran the "demo", the program functions properly, ie when I 'reset' under "action", 'reset' appears under "status", then when I 'build' under "function", 'partial x/y cars' appears under status, and "preview" appears under function, and when I preview, the train manifest is displayed.? When I 'restore'? an auto backup file, and restart, my problem reappears.

What about the System Console error in my Sept 9 email, could this be part of the problem?

Strange.? When you "reset" a train, the status should become "Train reset".

This might be a stab in the dark, but try upgrading to the latest production of JMRI 5.8 to see if that fixes things.

In my case it doesn't change to "Preview" or "Print" as expected.?? It does however show "partial X/Y car" for the train.? I verified the car count by checking the cars in "Cars".? The * displayed after the train number before "building" has disappeared after the train number which is normal when building a train.

Here's an example of what a successful build should look like. Notice under "Function" the build becomes "Print" or "Preview" depending on the function checkbox at the bottom of the Trains window.

Note, when I 'reset' another train the same happens, it will not 'build'.? Occasionally I will get a window requesting a locomotive, even though I have 'set' a locomotive for the train.

To get a build report for a train that has failed to build, just press the "Report" button for that train.

Again, provide the train build report in very detailed mode for the train that failed to build and we'll look at it if you can't figure out why.??

In my OperationPro 'settings', both 'auto save', and 'auto backup' have been selected.

I 'restored' an 'auto backup' file previous to 24-07-30.? Now I can make changes in Car, Routes, Locos, and Locations, and they are saved - progress.? I have repeatedly made changes, and they continue to save.? I check in my date files and the 'date modified' are also updating in all files as I make the changes.

I currently remain with one apparent problem.? When I go to "edit train" and 'reset' a train, then check "edit route" for correctness, then 'save' the train, then set cars, and locos for the train, then 'build' on the "Trains" window, the train does not 'build'. ? It tells me 'build failed'.? When I check in Cars and Loco the assigned cars, and loco have been added to the train.? Another oddity is the when I reset and save the train it doesn't displace 'current location' on the 'Trains' window.? Any suggestions??

There's a directory under operations called "backups" not "backup".? Is that the directory you are searching?? Note that the "backups" directory is only updated when you press the "Backup" button in the Settings window.??

When you start OperationsPro it automatically loads the last set of files saved by you.? You don't need to do a "Restore" or a load.

?

Under the "operations" directory, you should find the six operation files with an "Date Modified" the last time you did a save.

I completed your instructions setting up a new config and data file, but contrary to my previous response, the program is not performing properly.? Here's what is happening.? I will 'set' a car or a locomotive, and the new 'set' appears to be accepted, and they appear on the 'preview' as expected.? However when I 'save' and exit the program, then restart, the new settings have reverted to the previous settings, yet the 'new' setting still appear on the 'preview' until I make another change in settings.

When I go into my data file, none of? car, engine, location, or route rosters files have been modified since 24-07-30 which is when my problem appeared.? The program auto backups are up to date, but the roster files in the backup still haven't been modified since 24-07-30.? It appears the program is not saving changes made.? Any ideas???
