Locked At long last, version 1.0

 

At long last, the 1.0 version is available.

There's still a long way to go, of course. The wish list keeps growing. But I think we've got something that basically works, and I wanted to have a specific version to build on. Hence the 1.0 downloads.

The files are available at the usual download sites. I've also simplified the README file and split it into smaller chunks. I'd appreciate comments & suggestions on this:



I also did some overhauls of the general web pages, updating some of the figures, etc.

For those of you who have 0.9.4 installed, the differences are:

New Lenz decoder
Minor fixes to GUI (spacing, etc)
Better handling of errors if client libraries
are not properly installed
Small improvements to startup time on Linux machines

Bob, Robin, or someone.

Help, I have just loaded version 1.0. It works just fine but am very
confused as to where my roster is. The previous Windows install did not
have a roster so I imported each engine from one of the old files. They
then all showed on the program.
I deleted the old program and installed version 1.0. (I had first looked
at the previous program but there were no engines in the "roster" even
though engines showed in the program). I looked at the roster file in the
newly installed V1.0 and nothing is there even though they still show in the
program.
The old files I used to import engines from is fine but it shows no
updated files so assume that's not where V1.0 is getting the roster from or
am I wrong? Everything's great but really am confused as to where my roster
is<VBG>.

Sorry for the trouble.

I'm not real certain what you're seeing. Do your locomotives appear in the selection box OK? or did they disappear?

Did you do that import into a recent test version? On Windows98, that would have put the roster information (which is a "roster.xml" file, and a "roster" directory containing the individual files) into something like c:&#92;Windows&#92;JMRI (Not sure of the capitalization, can check when I get home). And the new version should have picked those up and continued to use them.

It is in Windows&#92;JMRI&#92;roster. It's easy to confuse me<VBG>. So far V1.0 is
fine.
Bob, I assume you are at the convention. How is it. I just returned
yesterday from the Santa Fe convention and it was great.

OK, thanks. Yes, its confusing at first, but in the long run its supposed to be more stable. We'll see.


Bob, I assume you are at the convention. How is it. I just returned
yesterday from the Santa Fe convention and it was great.
Unfortunately, due to pressure of work I'm not leaving for the convention until tomorrow evening. I'll take the red-eye and get there for Wednesday's activities. I've never been to one of these, and am really looking forward to it. Hope to run into some of the people on this and other lists!
