Locked JMRI V5.3.5+Rff6cfe01dc - NCE:Show NCE Cabs #nce

Dear testers,

I have just downloaded the current test version of JMRI as you can see by the title. ?I have had a look to see what ‘Cabs’ are on my NCE Powercab handset and can only set the current cab in use. ?Is it possible to show more cabs on a single handset please as I can RECALL upto 6, thank you.?

Kind regards
Duncan Hamilton

Hi Duncan,

You are confusing loco cabs (the locos under your control) with NCE's concept of a cab, which is a controller connected via the cab bus to the command station, in your case just the power cab itself. Add a ProCab and you'd see another cab show up.

At this point, I don't remember if AIUs? MiniPanels and the NCE-USB should also be in that list? but I'm sure a more enlightened soul than I am will chime in.

If memory serves, EVERYTHING on the cab bus (with a cab ID) shows up. Pretty certain my NCE USB did

I’ve tried showing all cabs and it only does the current one on the handheld screen unfortunately. ?I am running window 11 on a laptop. ?I wonder if I’m missing anything else?

Hi Wouter,

Duncan,

Remember that cabs in that context means other throttles, AIU, or similar things
on the cab bus. It does not mean locos.

Each row you see in the Show Cabs is the partial contents of the Cab Context Page for each Cab Bus Address. This part of command station memory also has a ";swap area for RECALL key" memory area but is not currently being read and decoded by JMRI. There is documentation of sorts in an NCE Technical Reference Manual (V2,3 for the Power Pro command station. The access method for for the Power Cab is different and may not even be accessible to JMRI.

It was on my (longer than a lifetime) TO DO list. Unfortunately since a bout of Covid in mid 2022 I have multiple health problems and am no longer able to do much at all.

For a Power Pro system with Number of Recalls set to 6, the Show Cabs display would be up to round 384 rows and take a long time to display/refresh. For a Power Cab rhe table would be much shorter.
