Locked Cable driver help needed

?Cable driver help needed! ? so I went out and bought myself a USB to RS 232 serial cable advertised as with FTDI chipset. When I received ?the cable, The specifications sheet does not list FTDIE but says the chipset is an FT 232 and ZT213. It also came with a driver disc, which my laptop does not have a CD at all so is Not usable. So following the instructions I went to the webpage to download a driver and when I get there it tells me that new drivers are now available to support the FT4222H and 4D2XX drivers it also has in the instruction area A line that says FTDI drivers are available for windows CE 4.2 to 5.2 6.0 to 7.0 and 2013 I am running windows 10. I also have no clue what FT4222H or D2XX might be. The cable I purchased is a Ditech DT 5031 from Amazon Suggestions? ?Thanks Bruce in Mt. Airy, MD

That's exactly why I recommend spending ~$30 on buying an ESU or RRCirKits supplied genuine FTDI cable rather than buying a "bargain".

Thanks, it wasn¡¯t so much the bargain but the speed in which Amazon could get me the cable. Lack of patience, turns out, probably gonna cost me more time. Bruce in Mt. airy MD

Since you have the cable use the D2XXX drivers (2.12.28)? from this link :

https://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm

The FTDI install instructions, Win10 :

Try it, what do you have too lose at this point

The D2XX drivers are absolutely useless as far as JMRI is concerned - they communicate via a Windows DLL. JMRI needs a Virtual COM Port.

Bruce, you need the VCP drivers from:

Dave, both end up pointing at the same downloadable file. " WHQL Certified. Includes VCP and D2XX. "

Get the TrippLite Keyspann.? You won't have an issue although I have had to cut off the plastic hood aournd the DB-9 connector to allow it to connect to NCE command stations.

When I was having problems, I switched from an older TrippLite Keyspan to the RRCirKits cable, the UN8-BE, and it was very trouble free. ?The problem that I was having with the TrippLite Keyspan was that my older Mac system did not recognize the required driver for the TrippLite.
