Deselect the "Preview" checkbox at the bottom of the Trains page.? All build reports and manifests are automatically saved.

Is there a way to preview the switchlist after the train is built to verify it was what you wanted, then print it.

Dear dan

When i build a train with preview Checked, the word “build” in the column “functions” in the train window changes to preview. ?

When i click on preview i get a switch list for the train showing each location it goes and what cars to pull and what cars to setout. ?It also gives me a huge build report telling me everything the program did to create the switchlist.

I now want to review both on the screen then save both documents and print the switchlist so i can actually run the train without looking at a computer screen.

How do i do that

Tony

Ps:
I can not find the saved switchlist. I find the build report.

If i keep preview button on can i save the reports by clicking save builds button. When i do how does it know which build report to save?

Tony,

There isn't anything to save.? The program creates them for you and also saves them for you.

From the manual, a "Manifest" is a printout for a train.? A switch list is the work at a location.

Do you want a Manifest or a switch list?? From the very start of the operations help:

The word Manifest appears 196 times in the Operations help.

To print a Manifest press the Print in the build column.? That will send the Manifest to the printer.? If the "Preview" checkbox is selected you should see what the Manifest would look like if you printed it. Deselect the "Build Report" checkbox if you don't want to print the build report for the train.? There's an option to never print the build report:

Select "Always use Preview for Build Reports".

If you want to see a version of the Manifest that you can view using a text editor, go the Manifest Print Options page and select "Use Text Editor".

There is nothing to save.? When you build a train, the program creates the Manifest file and the build report.? You don't have to save them.? You can find the files in your profile directory under operations.? The directory "manifests" has all of your manifest for every train your ever built.? The "buildstatus" directory has a report for every train you built.? You never need to go there to find the files, Use the preview or print button for a train, that pulls up the last copy of each,

New problems

I have 2 identical trains which start at the engine yard where it gets an engine and a caboose and then goes to the class yd for the pickup of cars.
They differ only by the industry area it goes to.

One train works well and gets an engine and caboose.
The second fails to build as it cant get an engine
There are 51 engines in the yard

Second problem

In the area ‘select cars to be serviced by this train’. All passenger cars are un-checked. The area served does not service any passenger cars yet the train selects a bunch of passenger trains.

What am i doing wrong

Tony,

One problem at a time.

For the train that fails to get an engine, what does the build report say?

Dan

Okay for the final time.? If the "Preview" checkbox is selected you can preview or in your words "review" the train's manifest. Then if you like it, deselect the "Preview" checkbox, and the button becomes "Print".? When you press "Print: that what will happen,? a Manifest will show up at your printer.
