Locked Decoder manufacturer 082, not found in JMRI

Greetings,
another noob issue, I¡¯ve just purchased a used diesel F7A unit, no mfg name that I can find, Road Name is Burlington, Number is 797, when I try to add it to my roster JMRI says it is unable to find the manufacturer, which according to NMRA is HAG modelleisbahn AG.
?I am unable to find a CV list for this Swiss decoder and want to turn the volume down.

How does one do this?
?I chose NMRA standard, but it is unable to fill in all of the tabs and of course sound is one of them.

?Thanks in advance,
Gary

They specialize in euro engines. I fail to see them as producing decoders with North American sounds.?

Could it be your 82 is the value of CV7 ? ? This is usually the OEM? Soundraxx? for Backmann, Walthers.? and SoundValue decoders.
Sounds to me like your program track is having issues reading CV8.? CV8 is the manufacturer? and 141 would make sense,

Marc,
Thanks for the reply.
I don't know enough about DCC to answer your question other than to say that I am using a NCE Powercab system and it reported the Mfg. number and JMRI was unable to find it in its list.?
I have three other locos with different decoders and they were all read just fine by both systems.?

Hello. If we have a decoder not defined by Decider Pro can you still download the values in the cv¡¯ s from a new locomotive? ?In that way keep the original settings for future use? ?If so, please tell me how. ?

I am using the very latest JMRI revision on a Apple computer. Thank you ? Frank in Houston

You might have an older MRC decoder. Those cannot be read at all (Not enabled in hardware). Read gives random numbers.
Might need to open the Lok and send a photo of the insides.
(Or install a newer decoder)

I was browsing the JMRI DecoderIndex.xml and it has? HAG Modelleisenbanh AG as Manufacturer ID 81.. NMRA? Manufacturer ID? dated 2019 shows it to be
82.

That is more or less important as there are no definition files at all for this manufacturer but there is an error in the DecoderIndex.XM re this manufacturer ID#,

What Thomas mentions would not apply. MRC will return no value, just fails to read so it would not return some random value for CV8.? IF the decoder is returning a false value on CV8, little option but replace it or to try and reset it via CV8=8..

HAG Modelleisenbanh AG web presence is? all in German, makes it very difficult for a non-German to fish out details : -).

As Thomas mentions, open er up and look see.

Have a MR Friend who is fluent in German and he browsed the? HAG web site. They do not manufacture decoders, they use either ESU or Uhlenbrock decoders in the product they sell and they have nothing for North America.? So must assume your Powercab is simply having issues with this decoder, what ever it is.
.
ESU is manu ID# 151 and Uhlenbrock is 85.

Marc

Thanks for the info.?
I'll bring it back to the hobby store and see what they can make of it.?

Marc,

Could they be rebranded to 082?
Bob J is updating Manufacturer list, apparently changes were made and it is no longer an automatic update.

Any thing is possible..Pleasures of not having the decoder in hand.?

The NCE Powercab has this Standard Programming setup for decoders and first thing it does is determine the decoder manufacturer.
So it is quite possible it is reading 82 on CV8 and since JMRI says HAG is 81, gets lost in the shuffle.? But again there are no
definition files for manuf# 81 or 82? but it could be rebranded ESU or Uhlenbrock decoder as you say.

Sorry I could not respond sooner. ?A few health problems. ?THE MANUFACTURER is TCS. ?IT IS a TCS KAM4 1485 four function (M4 decoder with KA2 Keep-Alive).?

Somehow I need to back up the CV's for future restoration if I have problems. ?ALSO to change the decoder address.....THANK YOU....
I am using Digitrax DVS 240 with LocoBuffer-USB-USB for more information.

Can I use DecoderPro to save the values on this new decoder >. THANK YOU?

Frank,

Your responding to someone else's thread. If you have an issue you should start a new topic.
