Locked JMRI on second computer

I have the DecodePro on this desk top computer.
I also have a ASUS "laptop" computer which I would like to connect to the same soft ware so I could connect with the home railroad.? I model in n-scale and use NCE Power Cab.
Is this feasible?
Thank you.

Roger,

? ? I too have a second Asus laptop with JMRI running.? Did some tests and see running two laptops feasible, but the second one I disable the startup scripts.? I think also there might be a problem with the Logix conditionals running so maybe should disable those.

Roger?

We need a bit more explanation about what you intend to do:
1) Do you want to be able to use either desktop or laptop with your layout, sharing the same roster and other data, but not both connected to the layout at the same time?
2) Do you want to have both computers connected to the layout simultaneously?

Please clarify p whether you want 1) or 2).

I was able to download Java and the DecodePro software to the ASUS "transformer/laptop."
Can I import the roster from this desktop, so I could use the ASUS as the sole computer connected to the home railroad?

I tried to add a new loco on the ASUS, but was not successful.

Thank you.

Hi, if what you want is to see all the data from both computers try putting one set of files in Dropbox, then pointing each computer to the Dropbox files. The only downside I’ve experienced is not waiting long enough for Dropbox to log in.

If that’s what you want fi it a try.

Both of these links help explain where the roster can be found and copied to the other correct place in the other computer.

Although the Dropbox page is aimed at ongoing sharing, the illustrations and explanations are the same for a one-time transfer:

This page has a more detailed explanation of "what lives where" as far as JMRI files are concerned:

Thank you all for the suggestions, options and directions.

I tried to add a new loco on the ASUS laptop, but was not successful.
It was very slow responding.
I feel I need to verify DecoderPro will work on my ASUS because I move the entire roster, etc. for access there.
Thanks.

Yes, you'll need to resolve that issue before you start moving your existing roster.
