i can't get turnouts in layout editor to accept a name from the turnout table. i have tried picking the name in the drop down selection before i create the turnout, and also creating then trying to edit. i can pick the turnout name from the list, but the "done" button does not dismiss the dialog. is there a problem in 4.7.3+R202c9ee, or am i forgetting some step? it has been a while since i played in layout editor.

I just tested this and everything worked as expected. Futzing around a little bit I was able to get it to behave similar to the manor you describe by trying to assign a turnout that had already been assigned as a secondary turnout for a different layout turnout. Note that when I'm unable to close the turnout editor there is a stack trace in the session.log file. If you can, find that file and send it to me (<geowar1 @ mac dot com>) I can have another look see.

with george's help, we did find my problem. it seems that turnout user names are required. i was only giving the system name and trying to use that, but when i give my turnouts a user name, then all works as expected.

Just an FYI: User names aren’t required… it was just a bug introduced by your’s truly… This should be fixed in an upcoming build (4.8?).
