Have a question about having a train pick up a specific car #operationspro

Evening,
I am creating a set of passenger trains (A westbound and an eastbound counterpart).? I want it to leave its departure station and then at another station while making a scheduled passenger stop. I would also like to have the train set out an express car and then pick up a diner to add to the train. before departing on its way west.
?
Then on the eastbound trip at this same station stop have the train set out the diner and pick up any head express cars. Then after this work is completed, the train would continue Eastbound to it's destination terminal.
?
I would like to have this do this each time I run the train.
?
Thank you? ?

I do this successfully using Schedules for the station spur. ?There are games you can play using the schedules, custom loads, and car owner field.

It could be as simple as only allowing the station track to accept the express and diner cars.? Place the diner cars at the intermediate station. Now build the train and see if the express car is set out and the diner car is pulled.

Another idea is to add a new "Car Type".? That's done via the Cars window, by selecting the "Add Car" button, getting that window, then clicking the Car Type "Edit" button.
?
?
Type in your new car type, then click Add:
?
?
This does NOT create a 'custom load', and allows you to use the default "L" or "E".??Set the necessary spur(s) to accept that Car Type.??
?
This has worked for me quite well with cars in/out for a steel mill, automobile plant, and grain elevators.
?
Best,

Hey Trackwalker09,
?
The key to this goal is to use two trains and not a "turn", since the same train cannot handle the same cars multiple times on one train build.
Let's label your towns A, B, and C.? ?Then, create a train to go from A to C, stopping in B to do the work.? Create another train to go from C to A, again stopping in B to do the work.
Next, create new car types of "Express" and "Diner", and allow both trains to service both new types.? You will also need to have a track in town B that allows the two new types, perhaps called "Depot-HouseTrk".
The new car types will need to be allowed in towns A and C, so edit or create a track in each for them.? Example (town A - REA track (allows only car type "Express" AND town C - Commisary (allows only car type "Diner").
?
Now when you build the WB train, it can carry the Express car to town B and switch it out for the Diner, which it will carry to town C.? And the reverse will happen when you build the EB train.? The actual track arrangement in town B might cause a bit more switching work if the cars have to be run-around in order to spot them on the HouseTrk...
?
A rather simple way to get what you wanted, and expandable if you want to introduce new wrinkles!
?
Happy to help, hope it helps,
