BLI E1A Unresponsive
I just received an E1A & B units, both powered with Paragon 4 decoders, that I won in an auction a few days ago. Today I took them to the club to add it to our roster and adjust the CVs to my needs. Our programming station, which also holds the roster for all engines used on the layout, uses an NCE PowerCab and a laptop with Decoder Pro.
I was able to identify the E1A and modify the address from the default of 3 and control it with the PowerCab. My next step that I usually perform with all my engines is the set the decoder to use the Speed Table and write that change. When I did this the sounds of the idling engine immediately ceased and I could no longer control either motion or sounds and lights from the PowerCab. The engine appeared to still accept commands to read and write CVs from Decoder Pro, but attempts to undo whatever happened failed. Even resetting to factory settings by writing 8 to CV8 didn't help, although it appeared the reset worked when reading CVs I had changed. I also verified that CV19 was NOT set for consisting, plus the other CV that defines if an engine is front, rear or middle. I'm thoroughly stumped at this point and would appreciate any other suggestions. I'm not a rookie at using Decoder Pro, but also certainly not as well versed as some people that use it on a nearly daily basis so I'm not sure what I've overlooked. I've also sent this message to the BLI list. -- Rick Jones Raising teenagers is like nailing Jello to a tree. |
The same on this engine, but it's having no effect. It shouldn't affect the ability to move the engine, just the sounds.

I'm not sure with Paragon 4, but my Paragon 2 Niagra if you double tap FF9 you shut down the loco. You will then need to double tap FF6 to restart. |
