Show Cabs on NCE only shows AIU cab#4 setting #nce

Hi, this might be more of an NCE issue but I'm? trying to see the cab # displayed under 'Show Cabs'.? ?I'm having an issue with the AIU being displayed or even recognized by the NCE.? The board came set to cab 4 (as determined by little switches).? Any other cab setting other than 4 does not display on 'Show Cabs'(when set to cab 4 it shows on 'Show Cabs').? ?There are barely any instructions supplied by NCE especially with the JMRI part, is there something I'm missing?
?
Thanks,
Mario

Mario,

?

Which NCE command station are you using? Which version of firmware is the command station using? Those matter in helping you get things fixed up.

My apologies for not suppling that info - SB5.? I don't recall ever seeing the firmware for the SB5 as does the Powercab / Procab.? Would the? SB5 firmware be displayed on the Procab?
?
Thanks,
Mario

When you go to the CMD STA it should be the first thing it shows. It’s in the form of a date. Related is how new or old is your SB5 ?

Ok I'll certainly check for that this afternoon when I get home.? I want to say its about 4-5 years old, I sent it to NCE for repair around 2 years ago.
?
I'll follow up and thanks thus far

Mario,

?

What id is the USB set for and what other cabs are connected? Do you see all of those in the Show Cabs?

?

You are likely on a current version due to when you had it repaired.

Cab2 is the Procab which shows the current locomotive assigned, cab3 is the USB adaptor, cab 4 when the little switches on the AIU are set to cab 4.? I do own another NCE cab04 handheld but not currently plugged in.
?
Just for additional info - I have a very long BUS to the point where I have a powered UTP at the far end.? It all works though, the Procab does function on all UTPs along the entire length
?
Thanks,
Mario

Mario,

On the AIU it happens that the dip switch gets put in upside down and that on vs off is confused. Presuming the firmware was not the original, you can use 7-10 for the AIU board. First thing I’d try is reversing all the dip switches and see if that shows up. Then try same trick but with 8 and try that both ways.

I was rereading the SB5 documentation and also you mention there seems to be 10 slots or cabs available: cab1 reserved for the system, cab 2 for the Procab, cab 3 for the USB adaptor Cab 4 -10 for additional.? I wonder if I am limited to using only 1 AIU being that the only cab available is cab 4 in that 4-10 range.? I can't set the dip switches to any other cab besides 4, 48,49,50,51....on the AIU.??
?
Thanks,
Mario
