Trains not running in Automode with Dispatcher
#dispatcher
I have a layout where I am using signal heads at turnouts with SSL. I have defined sections and transits.
When I try to run an active train in auto mode, the train doesn't run.?
I see the transit and all sections being allocated in the layout editor (tracks highlighted in white). ?
How can I debug this further? Is there a way to turn on debug messages for dispatcher?

Vimal, Make sure that have selected "Signal Heads/SSL" in the Dispatcher Options. You can enable debugging using the main PanelPro "Debug -> Display / Edit Log Categories" menu item. ?Replace the default text with "jmri.jmrit.dispatcher" and click on "Set new Logging Level for this session". ?I recommend you get your test case configured and then enable debugging. ?This reduces the amount of content in the system console. I set "Signal Heads/SSL' in dispatcher options. Now it is complaining about following errors in console log:
?
15:53:15,251 jmri.implementation.DefaultSection ? ?WARN ?- Section - SEC1 (IY:AUTO:0002) , 1 anchor point signal heads missing [AWT-EventQueue-0]
15:53:15,255 jmri.implementation.DefaultSection ? ?WARN ?- Section - SEC2 (IY:AUTO:0003) , 1 anchor point signal heads missing [AWT-EventQueue-0] ?
Even though these are listed as WARN, when I try to create an active train, it pops an error message saying it found 2 errors on signal heads and to see console log for details.
?
I have set signal heads only on the turnouts. What does above Warning/error mean? Do I need to set signal heads at every block boundary?

Vimal
Signal heads are bit of work. Signal Masts would have been another choice.
?
First try setting the dispatcher option to "No Signals" and see how far you can get with that. This options requires no signal heads or masts, it works fairly closely to how signal heads but without the hassle of doing fwd and reverse sensors etc.
?
If that works, by that I mean that the train goes from a to b and doesn't crash, you will get some confidence that basic layout panel works.
?You can explore what works best for you without redrawing the panel. You can have Signal heads and masts on the same panel and choose which you want to use on any day.
?
Signal mast SML works by controling the train from one signal mast to the next, it crosses boundaries between blocks with no signals without any problem, but, there's always a but, needs a signal at the buffer stops on non thru routes.
?
Signal Head SSL? works from one boundary to the next and requires a signal at each boundary.
?
NoSignals, is closer to an autonomous train, it just looks to see how far a ahead the line is clear and needs no signals, but, you see there's always a but,? passengers and live stock may need seat belts as series of short sections cause radical speed changes.?

Thanks for all suggestions.?
I tried ?going with signal masts and SML but ran into other issues. So I went back and tried the signal heads approach as it seemed easier.? Good news is that now I am able to run trains on auto with dispatcher using manually defined transits.?
I have a question about dispatcher. Once a transit is complete, how do you restart the same transit again? ?There seems to be no buttons to restart it. ?
Also, is there a way to same the active trains and transits setup on the dispatch window and have them load up on start?

If you dont terminate, then there is a restart button.? Otherwise save the info before starting and next time just reload it. Set the "Load on Start Up" and save the traininfo. Steve G. |
