Re: Detection in JRMI with NCE Accessories
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDave, Since the switches inside the tortoise are isolated, where is the GND Loop supposively happening at? The three wires connected to pins 5, 6 & 7 need to go directly to the AIU GND terminal and two input pins of the AIU. They should be routed close together and preferably lightly twisted together. The GND connection between pin 5 and the AIU GND terminal must not be made via any bus ground. Multiple Tortoises position switches must not use a shared ground back to the AIU GND. To do otherwise invites false triggering of the AIU inputs. The email from Dick Bronson (principal of RRCirKits) is here: Dave in Australia |

I have uploaded a script example that will hopefully be helpful. /g/jmriusers/files/VSD/SensorListener.py You have to open the LocoNet Monitor to see the transponding messages. Open the sensor table (Tools >> Tables >> Sensors) and click on an sensor state. Regards Klaus Am 16.09.2019 um 12:23 schrieb P?r Ekstrand: Hi, |

The suggested solution to the Android change is to operate in Airplane mode. This turns the phone system radio off so we're not trying to connect to the net over that network. Jim Albanowski |

VSD Transponder Question
#vsdecoder
Hi,
I am using JMRI for a shelf layout I have. I run my trains using scrips and I am using decoders, sensors etc from a Swedish company? mollehem.se My layout is N-scale and I would like to use VSD for the loco sounds. I am trying to figure out what LocoNet messages to send in my scripts to mimic the messages sent by the Digitrax Transponding system to report loco possitions. Since I only run my trains with scripts I thought that I could put in LocoNet messages in the scripts that will tell the position of the trains to VSD when I get a message from the corresponding sensor that the train is located there. Is there someone that could help with the how a LOcoNet message like that should look like ? Best Regards P?r Ekstrand Stockholm |

Re: Having issues connecting on closed Wifi
Bradley: Turning off auto connect removes one potential problem but the other is that your phone may be looking for an internet connection - and there isn't one on your layout router I presume. There should be a setting somewhere in your phone to force it to ignore internet connectivity when connecting to a wifi network.
Rather than fiddling with your phone settings you can automate all of this with the free WifiPrioritizer app. It allows you to fine tune when to connect to which networks and to ignore or consider internet connectivity separately for each. In your case, you could have your phone set up exactly as it used to be but then lock on to your layout router whenever it is active. Jan |

Feedback to Panel for NCE throttle commands
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMy apologies to the group, because I think this was answered to someone else a very short time ago, but I can not find the email and accompanying information.I have a JMRI Panel set up to control the layout and monitor occupancy via locoNet. ?If I click on a turnout on my computer to throw a switch, the position on the panel is always consistent with the turnout. ?My DCC system is NCE, and stationary decoders for tortoise machines are NCE SwitchIt and Switch8 decoders. ?If someone using their throttle throws a switch or if they use a layout/fascia push button to change the orientation of the switch it does not show the change on the panel. ?Is there a way to manage this other than adding AIU boards for feedback? Re: Loconet over TCP persistance
Sorry, asked a relatively simple question in a complex way...
Main computer tied to Loconet (either with a LB-USB or directly to a DCS240) and WiFi clients (RPi's) running JMRI instances.? Either of the client to server pieces of code (Loconet Client/Server or LoconetOverTCP) are supposed to work but do not. 4.16 on main, 4.17.3 on clients. What's broken or has changed since 4.14. Re: PR3 Power supply
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýFrank,?My DCC command station is the NCE PH Pro 5 amp system. ?I purchased a Power Pax to program the newer sound decoders and it seemed to do the job for a while, but eventually I put it away and purchased the Soundtraxx PTB-100 and it works just fine. ?Buying the Power Pax which was a little cheaper was my way of hoping to save a little money but that did not work out. ? I have thought about trying to sell the Power Pax on ebay, but that is just passing on the problem. ? I hope that this doesn¡¯t send this thread on a side track, but I believe that the newest Soundtraxx Tsunami decoders no longer require the boost of the PTB-100 in programming and in fact do better with out the PTB-100. ?So I have a switch now on my programming track to bypass the PTB-100 when programming the newest Tsunami decoders. ? I would recommend going against adding more voltage to the layout just to facilitate program track programming. ?That would be putting everything else you have at greater risk of damage. ...YES...YOU GOT IT....That is Exactly what I am experiencing. ?YES, I think there was an update on the android software. ?I (hopefully) will check with the author of that software. ?THANK YOU...YOU HAVE IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM. ?I was afraid it was something I did but it looks like that was not the reason for this failure. Sorry for the delay, been sick. I am confused on your last reply, see below about a ground loop. My Assy. Bus is power by a separate external power supply, unrelated to my DCC power system. My GND side of my Assy. Bus is what¡¯s running to my AIU¡¯s GND, along with the GND on my BD20¡¯s and the GND side of my external power for my Switch8 Mk2¡¯s. The positive + side of my Assy. Bus goes to the other external side of my Switch8 MK2¡¯s. Since the switches inside the tortoise are isolated, where is the GND Loop supposively happening at? Thanks for any any input here. Re: PR3 Power supply
Frank,
Get a 16-18VDC power supply for your PR3. I use an 18VDC 1.1 amp power brick salvaged from an old inkjet printer.? Then get rid of the Power Pax. You won't need it. My PR3 with that 18VDC supply will reliably read/write to any sound decoder I've tried (just about all popular brands except MRC). HTH, Steve "Breezlys" |

Get rid of the Power Pax and use a PTB100. The PS14 is enough power though I have a 16 volt on mine.?

Re: Raspbian Upgrade.
I had my Pi's before I got into JMRI. I was just using my DCC system standalone. I got my Pi's (2, 3B and 3B+) to get back into Linux. I installed various HATs. Then I found out about JMRI and tried it with my netbook, notebook (running various versions of Windows and my Mac. Once I figured out the nuts and bolts I put it on a Pi and have had more fun pulling out UP5's (not needed) except for two just in case. I installed JMRI and added to my men because I like a bare desktop.

PR3 Power supply
Hello All
I have learned that I cannot program any engines w/ JMRI on my program track.? JMRI works fine when I program on the main. I believe my PS14 power supply (with a Power Pax) is to low Can someone suggest an 18volt power supply to try? Thank You Frank |
