Re: Swapping 2 Long Trains
#operationspro
Larry,
Sam is right just use a -1 or -2 behind the car number. That will cause the program to make a space for the car because the dash will give it a different number and from that point on it is it's own object. Now the only time this system will matter is if you end up with both cars on the same track and the program wants one, for me it becomes dealers choice I usually go after the car that is in the farthest. It works good.? The dash system works in other areas of the program as well try them out. The worst that will happen is the program will tell you I don't like that and give you a raspberry. If it is an ESU decoder, it can take a while to re open and may seem like it is not opening and then if you get ahead of the program and start punching other keys, you may abort its opening or lock up.? Other brands have less info to load so open up quicker.?? If it is not Esu, then ignore this post. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI recently also came across this issue. Where you save the roster entry and try going back to open it by double clicking and it won¡¯t open.?If I closed DP, restart DP, it works fine. Rance,
Since you have Win7, if the 'Windows' tab shows it as open, go to the bar on the desktop of open programs. It too should list the different panes within JMRI that are open. Right click on the one of the loco and pick 'Maximize', that should make it take your whole display. Then you should be able to grab the corners and resize it to something that fits the display. Then close it. That should keep that last size and location and use it next time you open it. At least I think that's what I do, my fingers know the steps better than my memory. If this is the case, the last step is removing the file that retains all the size and location details for everything in JMRI. It would then start with the system defaults and that would work. But that is like a nuclear option, you lose all record of every window within JMRI. The file is named UserPrefsProfileConfig.xml but as I say, that is a last resort. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team |

Re: Missing CBUS events on Raspberry Pi system
It sounds like the hardware is fine, because it was used with the desktop machine OK (It was the same CAN-USB4, cables, etc, right?)
Since single events can be lost, it¡¯s probably not a matter of internal queues getting too big, etc. Does JMRI seem to be constantly awake? I.e. if you ask it to change a turnout, does that always happen promptly? Or are there occasional long delays? There might be an issue with the USB subsystem. I¡¯ve seen a bad cable or device generate a _lot_ of not-really-visible USB traffic while the machine tries to cope. What other USB devices are attached? Powered or unpowered hubs? If you have a USB keyboard, does it ever drop keys? Bob On May 31, 2019, at 4:14 AM, Andrew Brown <andy.badshot@...> wrote:-- Bob Jacobsen rgj1927@... |

Hi Dave
OK I see it now. The masts that have the NX associated with them are held until a route is set from them. All quite sensible. Thanks for everything on this Fraser |

Larry,
Also look at the idea of 'kernel', it is a tool to keep a set of cars together. I think it was designed for unit trains and passenger car sets. You might be able to then use an extra digit for those cars to keep them identified. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Rance,
Are you saying you see the loco listed in the roster, but it won't open. Or is it not showing up in the roster list? Things to check. First Help->System Console, this will show any internal errors happening when you try saving the entry. Second, Debug->Rebuild Roster, this will rebuild the index of the locos in the roster directory. Third, Help->File Locations, do the paths for everything, like the roster make sense. Fourth, after you asked it to open the loco entry, check the tab 'Windows', does that show an entry for the loco? If that does, that says it is open, but somewhere off your viewing screen. Depending on which type of computer, there different magic keystrokes to get it back to where you could see it. See if any of these help you out. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team |

After it is saved, then go through the roster, pick out the engine, and double click on the address. That should work.

Car placement on yard track
#operationspro
I have a large yard with a standard ladder on both ends, so all tracks can be accessed at either end.? My tracks are defined as FIFO, so we set out from one end and pull from the other.? Pretty straight forward I hope.
Now, I want a have a periodic deep cleaning of the yard.? I want to pull every car off, dust and clean tracks, track maintenance, etc.? Once completed, I want to return all of the cars in their original spots.? If I do this for an industry with spurs and spots, it's no big deal.? Not as many cars and all cars have a specific spot.?? Does OpsPro keep track on the specific order a car is in a yard?? Would I have to take a picture of the all cars in order, so I can put them back in order??? All help appreciated. Thanks, Larry |

Simply add ¡±-2¡± (or -1, or whatever) to the road number, e.g., 102766-2. JMRI won¡¯t display the ¡°-2¡± on the manifest.?

Thanks Ken.
I'll have to take a look at that.? For my long distance train that doesn't get broken up, it's not much of a big deal.? But for locals where the individual cars will be set out at either spur spots or a yard track, we still need to know which car is which. Larry |

Re: Swapping 2 Long Trains

Larry,
I don't recall if Ops allows letters in the road number. I'm thinking like the early days of the ABA locos, they used trailing letters. If you watch most container cars they put an A, B, C... on the different segments of those too. Might be one easy way out. I think Dan did something for this sometime along the line. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |
