Issue with JRMI Zimo MX621 Decoder File

Hello,

I have installed Zimo MX621 deoders in many of my locomotives. But I am seeing errors writing to the decoders. The Zimo MX621 has no CV Values in the 400's yet the decoder profile seems to think it does. It errors out on CV's 400-428. Is there a way to correct this?

Paul,

I have not seen that? anyone has addressed the size of the Pi for you. That is another great piece of information. If you get it with a plastic protective case, it is approximately 4 inches by 3 inches by less than 2 inches. It is a very small unit loaded with powerful capability.? You can just place it next to your command station and almost forget its even there. Very small footprint for running your railroad.

Bob,

If the config is wrong, the wrong init is sent, that would also account for
the poll not working since the node doesn't initialize. If that's right, we
don't have a hardware issue as much as getting the node config corrected.
I'm not good enough at keeping the details to know one init from the next
without having to dig deep into the books (or code).

That Init message indicates your JMRI preferences are _NOT_ set correctly.  The type will be N if a SUSIC is configured.

But the first thing to do is to fix whatever has gone wrong with the node.  Somehow, in the process of flipping the switches, something electrical has gone wrong.  Find that and fix it, then you’ll see the system polling again.

After that, we can walk you through setting the preferences step-by-step.  But you really should first get the electrical problem fixed first, because otherwise it’s going to be very difficult to get this right.

Ken,

I just got it working this morning. ?I removed all the connections except for the one NCE network connection I am using. ?The way it ended up working was to do a complete uninstall, remove the working directory in users, and then a completely new install. ?I added back my tables, panels and roster after I had it working as just a new install (with only the one connection). ?Thanks. ?

David is correct... A command station is that and will not be replaced by a computer running JMRI.

I have left two of the (Steve's) RPi-JMRI boxes at friends for their (1) Digitrax RR and (2) NCE RR... Simple and straight forward they just work, we run trains with WiFi throttles.

If you wanted a programming computer it will do that too, need human I/O but that can even be a PC or Laptop that can run a VCN into the Pi so it doesn't need keyboard, mouse and screen.

I look at the Pi and marvel... okay 40 years ago my first computer was 1/1000 the horse power at 500 times the price... didn't even do WiFi...

Part of the advantage of the Pi if used for the WiFi to Digitrax is that it able to be turned on and off like any other appliance not needing an orderly shut down and hoping that in the case of Windows waiting for the big update to finish... Another part of that advantage is that as it's configured to provide it own set of IP addresses and passwords it completely off the home network and you're not giving out passwords you might not want to.

The SUSIC was working and if all up stream from it to the computer remained unchanged you should get the 1 to 1 blink...? I say that not sure if it initializes without it's cards set right... Let's assume that the computer to the SUSIC is okay and there is a change at there... You would still see the data in light blink on the 232/485 and SUSIC it wouldn't initialize if it's address changed. If a baud rate problem there should be fast blink if the address is right (or wrong?) Be sure the DIP switches are as they were when you at least had inputs.

Any change at the computer end that might have caused JMRI to forget the SUSIC and/or I/O? Check there first even if the computer changed the com number.

Then pull the I/O cards and with just the SUSIC and MB see if you can get that back at least to the data lights and maybe the heart beat.

If we get this back to where it was when first posted we'll need to if the outputs are working... rather than a loop back to an input we'll want an LED to the pin tested. LED to +5 and through 330/470 resister to pin.

If this goes too much longer I'll dig my SUSIC and I/O 24's out of storage and play along with any further tests... rather not but it would be nice to get this one working.

Did you change any wiring for the bus? Did you touch the address switch
block on the SUSIC? The SUSIC was working ok before. It is now acting like
node 0 isn't on the line.

Eric,

It seems you have 3 NCE connections, I doubt that is right. I suspect that
is confusing the rest of the startup. I would say you need to clean that up
first, then see what issues remain.

Don,

The required track segment between two turnouts can have a length as little as zero. You do need to assign a block from one of the turnouts to satisfy block routing calculations.  On a friend's layout the physical cross-overs are two turnouts but in JMRI they are the cross-over icons.

The cross-over icon supports up to four blocks.  For layouts that I have been involved with, the two blocks for each straight route have the same block.  This provides two OS sections for signaling.

checked dip switch settings .. flipped all of them and reset to 0 for the output board (all switches off), 1 for the first input board (end one flipped), 2 for the second input board (2nd from end flipped) ...

now I don't get any red or yellow led lights ...?

susic green led shows only Mode 0 - idle - 1.8 sec on / 0.2 sec off ...

sensors don't show up now ..

two turnouts snap to thrown during power up, if in normal position ... yes, have a solid common ground ...
I can operate the turnouts by jumping the output card wire to ground ... so it seems like not getting signal (change of state) from JMRI ?

checked baud rate setting : USB converter - com4 : 9600 & Susic - dip switches all off - so 9600 ..

also, checked shield wire from rs232/rs485 to susic ... didn't seem to make a difference if it is connected or not ...?

according to CMRI user's manual - CT should be 22 ? ... 16 is not even a valid value ..

They fixed the problem.

I am having issues with the new version of JMRI.? I updated both Java and JMRI tonight to 4.14.? I am getting a lot of errors in the system console, not sure where to even start.? is there a way to enter a "safe mode" and start adding back things one at a time.? I have a lot of logix and panels that I use, and I really don't want to recreate everything.
