Re: Can't access logix
Darren,
The issue was old systems didn't force the system name for Logix to conform to a pattern. We now do require it. I suspect it will be a minor fix to your panel file. The simplest way is if we could see the file and manually fix it. So if you can post it to the group space under 'Problems being worked on' one of us can spot and fix it. Editing the XML file is not something we suggest but sometimes resort to ourselves. It is way too easy to mess up the file. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Can't access logix
Hi all, I have been following the can't access tables thread and seem to have a similar issue with logix.
I am running JMRI 4.11.3 and when I open up my panel file, then select tools I can see the logixs tab. When I select it I get the turnouts tab and the logix tab disappears. I have just started my panel and watched the console to see what was happening. There are a lot of logix errors which never posed a problem when running 4.6. The console log for the logix errors is shown here and I am hoping someone can enlighten me to what is causing the problem. I believe it will be a naming convention issue but I am not sure what to look for. Any help greatly appreciated. Digitrax DH126 BEMF
Hi,
I just installed a Digitrax DH126PS decoder and used DecoderPro to program it. All went great except for setting up the BEMF (what Digitrax calls Speed Stabilization). Now the Digitrax web site has conflicting information on whether the DH126 supports BEMF. It's not called out the features list, and they say the economy series 6 decoders don't have BEMF. On the otherhand, the specifications say it supports CVs 55, 56, and 57. I looked at the decoder definition, Digitrax_Economy_Series6.xml, and saw that the include for bemf.xml is commented out. Just for fun, I edited the definition and included bemf.xml. I then reprogrammed the BEMF configuration and the loco responded as expected. The effect was very noticeable at slow speed when I used F5 to turn speed compensation off and on. I conclude my specific DH126 does have BEMF. Where should I save my updated definition? If I read the JMRI docs right, it should be ~/.jmri/decoders/Digitrax_Economy_Series6.xml, right? How widespread is BEMF in the DH126 decoders? Maybe the definitions should be merged back into Digitrax_01x6.xml. Jim |

Re: Fw: Re: Re: Can't access tables
Harold,
AIU readback isn't supported in the PowerCab/SB3/SB5/Twin series of systems. There wasn't enough room in the memory for it to hold that information. Only the PowerPro command station (CS02) supports letting JMRI know what the AIU devices are seeing. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Re: Tables
Ted,
Having CMRI won't interfere with the tables. You should be able to start JMRI, not loading any panels, and open the tables. Have you followed the directions to conclude if you do or don't have the audio library bug? That's where you would find a very small empty window when you select the tables in the 'Window' menu. If you leave your system alone for a long time, like an hour or even overnight, it will eventually open and display the tables. But to simulate, I need to know what CMRI nodes you had so I can set my configuration the same. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

Re: JMRI Web Server and multiple IP addresses
To all,
first, thank you for all the responses. Tonight, during our monthly session, after I sent the email and while running a bunch of stuff, I got a java error which deteriorated the virtual throttle, to run warrants, and during dinner, I restarted JMRI. Following the email from Randall, I did not go through the procedure I described earlier, but instead just launched JMRI, then the Web Server. I then loaded the panel file, and when all was up, I went and checked the tablet (which was still connected to the same IP:port as earlier). To my surprise, the tablet worked, throwing the turnout, signal and TOB. So it looks like that indeed the server connected to both IP (unless of course I got lucky, 50 50) Anyway, for now we will finish the session (10pm west coast), with still lots of trains to be run. Sounds like your process is similar to mine. The Quaker Valley RR has a Dlink wifi router in the train room which is not connected to the internet. I pull the plug on the connection to the house (cable modem and internet) and then start the railroad PC and JMRI. Being it only sees the wifi railroad router, that is where the Withrottle and Webserver connect. If needed, I can then reconnect the cable and get outside internet connection. Operators in the railroad room have connection to the JMRI servers, but no internet. I only have the one PC, so do not have the roster share issue you are describing. I do have the two routers on separate IP address. I think they are 192.168.0.100 and 192.168.1.100, but could be wrong. Don't go under the hood too often. Bob Bucklew ----- Original Message -----

We also run a wifi tablet to run a tower panel for one turnout and a couple of train order boards and one signal. The wifi in the train room is very feeble. I installed a second router in the train room with its own wifi, and this one is used mostly for wifi throttles, and this one tablet. The issue is that in order to make it work, I have to disable the ethernet connection, have the wifi up to the train room router, launch JMRI, start the web server and withrottle server, then enable the ethernet. At this point all is well but one thing. We also share the roster from one computer, so it could be accessed from others around the layout. But JMRI having started with that share off (being the ethernet connection disabled), cannot see the share, even after reenabling the ethernet connection and refreshing explorer to see the share contents. Catch 22. In the Preferences, for both servers, there are entries to select the port to be used. Would it be possible to add which IP to use? (as a new feature) Thank you Leo P |

You can't with Soundtraxx decoders prior to the Tsunami 2 and Econami.? In the earlier decoders, there is not any CV to uniquely identify which exact model and sound set it is.

Re: Arduino sketch
Ted,
If what you want are some examples for sending and receiving text through the USB connection between an Arduino and your JMRI computer, a good starting place is in the downloaded folder with the IDE software. For a Win10 computer that would be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Arduino\examples\08.Strings" For more options, look at Check the information found at: // author: Alex Shepherd // webpage: for a wealth of information. Re: Alternative languages
Having used Google Translate to translate to English, I know that is adequate for getting the gist of the original text, but the grammar and sentence construction can be odd or confusing. Are google translations copyrighted? If so maybe you could get their permission to copy paste then paste into another book or software. You might not need an expert in another language just computer skills. The people who use it might have suggestions on how to say it better. To do it properly, we need people that are fluent in the language. There is a long history of poorly, or literally, translated instructions on products from certain countries, that range from funny to idiotic, that made manufacturer from those countries something of a laughing stock. I would rather that ED not be remembered that way. |

Re: Alternate languages for Engine Driver - Opinions and Volunteers
much of a programming knowledge is required. If it's oly a matter ofHi. I can do translations for Italian and Portuguese, but i don't know how translating text strings in an excel sheet, i can do it, else, I'm not sure i can tackle it. Regards Roberto Hi, You won't need to know anything about programming. Yes, all the text that needs to be translated is in a spreadsheet. It is just a commitment of time. There are over 500 short phrases and sentences that need to be translated,. Then the volunteers would need to test the new text by running Engine Driver thoroughly and send screen shots of any problems, along with the corrections, to me. We would also need them occasionally help translate when new features are added. As I said... A commitment of time. If you are still up for the challenge after hearing that, we would welcome your assistance. Peter (Brisbane Australia) |

Not sure how to do that a the moment... bridging between the two... But I have my house on Broadband to a primary Wifi router that services my "home" then over wire I go to a second WiFi, "railroad", router with it's own address range. All the the RR devices are then configured to that IP range. Since the second router is wired to the first it has Internet access but I haven't made any attempt to bridge in real time to the home system. Through the WiFi manager on the host RR system I can flip it's computer between the two. Host is not wired in. Let's try this... Command Station-wired-WiFi router-wired-main system-Wifi RR host So when you bring up WiThrottle server you get the IP that's been assigned by the router that it's talking to. Jim Albanowski <snip> |

The web server works on all IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Same for the WiThrottle even though it shows only one address in its window.
