Travis,
I doubt that JMRI will attempt to make a connection to the broker until it has an MQTT device created. - Dave Mc. |

1) i have yet to get MQTT working on JMRI.
2) none yet, as i have yet to get it working. then i will build devices (Arduino based). I am using MQTT Explorer for checking pubs and subs.

Travis, When did it last work for you? What MQTT devices have you set up? What channel name do you have? If you have the wild card on the end of the channel name, remove it, it no longer applies. Regards, Dave Mc. |

- Copy ShutDownExample.py to your user files location. ?See Help >> Locations for the actual path. - Edit your private copy with a text editor. ?Avoid NotePad if using Windows. ?I use WordPad. - Add a line after the "def execute(self):" line: ? ? ? ? turnouts.getTurnout(¡¯turnout name¡¯).setCommandedState(THROWN) - Replace turnout name with the user or system name for the turnout that controls the funicular. ?Keep the quotes around the name. - Make sure that the added line has the same number of leading spaces as the following lines. - Go to Preferences >> Start Up - Select Add >> Run script¡ - Navigate to your user files location and select the shutdown script. - Save your preferences change and restart. The script will start when you start JMRI. ?It will then wait until JMRI is stopped, at which time it will send the turnout command. Where to put shutdown.py script and how to use it?
#scripting
Hi all,
I¡¯m wanting to set a turnout to throw when I shutdown JMRI. I¡¯m using a turnout control to turn on and off an automated funicular and when I shutdown I want it to default to ¡°THROW¡± so it stops running even if the Arduinos still have power. I see an example ?¡°ShutDownExample.py¡± but I don¡¯t understand where it should go and how to activate it since there is only a Start Up¡± in preferences. Any help is much appreciated! Thank you, Jasen |

BINGO!? Thanks Dan!? It has been three and a half years since I've worked with your software.? I think "Truncate" may be a new option perhaps with checked as the default.? It is either that or I accidentally checked it with my older and sometime spastic fingers.? We moved in 2015 to a larger basement and are just now getting back into operations on the new and larger 2500 sq.ft. railroad.? Thanks for your support over the years and for the fabulous traffic management software!? I have just been working from our previous setup and making changes as necessary to accommodate the expanded railroad.? I'm sure there are many new features that I need to get acquainted with.? I need to sit and read the new documentation front to back several times to catch up. Thanks for the quick response, |

Re: Help getting JMRI working on a new WIN10 computer
There is/was an issue with how the default vs preference baud rate was used
in the code. This went back to 4.15.7 I believe. The fix is in 4.17.3, with other attempts in between. I thought it was only the CMRI interface, but there is a chance the problem was in the common code instead of just some interfaces. The hints included things like a blank baud rate in the profile and it working if your configured rate happened to match the default in the code. The current daily build has the fix in it for the last couple of days. -Ken Cameron, Member JMRI Dev Team www.jmri.org www.fingerlakeslivesteamers.org www.cnymod.com www.syracusemodelrr.org |

You don't need a(n external) utility, you can use the Get-FileHash cmdlet in Windows Powershell:
Get-FileHash C:\Users\yourID\Downloads\JMRI.4.15.9+Rf006fc4.exe | Format-List More info here:? HTH, Steve "Breezlys" |

Re: DecoderPro &ESU LokSound Factory reset
Oh boy.
Not familliar with Loksound decoders. Do read type from decoder (There are several different flavors) Put the lok on the programming track, New Entry, Read Type from Decoder. Open the roster entry page, hit read all sheets, and go have lunch. Likely takes about 50-60 minutes to read all 1200 CV. After that finishes, do "Read changes on all sheets". Do the above before looking at any CV settings. There are workarounds I use, but for a first timer, this is needed. After you finish the read, look at the function mapping pane. Each line tells what function key is assigned to which output and/or sound. Look for F8 and not F8, as there can be several lines for each function key. The main F8 should say On, Sound Slot 1.? For help from the Loksound group, go to the information pane and screen shot or copy that information. That tells what sound set is loaded. Loksounds can completely change how they behave based on loaded sound project. Thomas DeSoto, TX ? Save roster entry.? |

Re: Help getting JMRI working on a new WIN10 computer
I was one of those persons that had the baud rate miss match with my CMRI serial connection with the latter 4.15 test versions and posted the problem on GIT HUB. Dave Sand created the fix and it was put in the 4.17.3 builds on Jenkins. Try one of the test builds and see if it cures your problem.

JMRI 4.16, fails to connect to my LAN MQTT Mosquitto Broker/Server
from the JMRI log:
ERROR - Unable to create jmri.jmrix.mqtt.configurexml.MqttConnectionConfigXml for [Element: <connection/>], load returned false [main] when connecting to my Broker (Mosquitto, on CentOS Linux) using MQTT Explorer, and check the Syslog on my server, it has entries relating to the connection. yet when i try top connect via JMRI, there is nothing in the server Syslog, suggesting that the connection was either never attempted, or was blocked en-route. my MQTT broker is configured with allowing anonymous connections, and accepts connections from the same laptop running JMRI (Win10, Home), so it doesn't seem to be a firewall issue. Thanks in advance for any help. ~Travis |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýWe may be on to something here.? FWIW here¡¯s some background on the JMRI installs on the involved computers. ? The ¡®failed¡¯ computer was running JMRI 4.15.9 ¨C updated with almost every test and stable version of JMRI since it was put in service several years ago. ? The ¡®new¡¯ computer is running a fresh installation of JMRI 4.15.9, selected since it was running successfully at the time of failure. ? My MS Surface is running 4.17.2.? This computer also has had JMRI updated with almost test and stable version for quite some time.? ?(This computer is a warranty replacement from MS with all of my program and data files transferred from the previous unit.? The history of updates pre-dates the computer.) ? Ross ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]>

Marc, JMRI sets the baud rate for serial ports to match the internal settings taken from preferences as part of its initialization. If JMRI has some bug that does that setting incorrectly, it would definitely give exactly these symptoms. It would be a hard thing for a user to determine, because the baud rate is only changed while JMRI has control of the port. JMRI has done this baud rate setting so seamlessly for so many years that I never even considered that this could be a JMRI bug. I happen to remember that Ross is running 4.15.9 on the HP machine. I'll bet that his MS Surface that works is using a different version of JMRI. I'm going to send this info to the developers list as well, because it needs to get tracked down and corrected ASAP. Re: Help getting JMRI working on a new WIN10 computer
Either 4.15.7 or 4.15.8 changed the baud/bps processing. A side effect was some of the connections reverted to defaults or the profile.xml files ended up with empty speed values which then results in default values. These errors are visible in the system console log connection setting message when the displayed rate is not what was expected.

The two cases that I am aware of are LocoBuffer-USB and CMRI serial port. The blank setting for the LocoBuffer-USB is fixed in 4.17.2 and the CMRI forced default will be fixed in 4.17.3. Dave Sand On Aug 3, 2019, at 11:19 AM, dick bronson via Groups.Io <dick@...> wrote: |

There are multiple methods of skinning the cat. If you use the stop allocating sensor in the section you want to stop in, then when the train enters the section set the sensor inactive on a delayed on entry action. The train will stop using normal algorithms and then allocate beyond that point when it start allocating again. Also try setting a hold on the exit mast for the section and release on a delayed action. It might take some playing with to get it tuned right. The most accurate stopping is achieved with a IR stopping sensor in the track, or one driven by logix such as set sensor 10sec after entry. Somethings to think about. Steve G. Very interesting....THANK YOU...
Another question please. ?My locomotive (HO Atlas GP-7) with the ESU LokSound Select is a used locomotive (advertised as new old stock, but I no longer believe it). ?I use the Digitrax system and as you know DecoderPro...latest revision 4.17.3). When I do a Factory reset...AND then run the locomotive with address..3....all works as expected except for a noise that sounds like an engine fan of some sort. ?When I "SHIFT-F-8" all sounds stop as they should EXCEPT this simulated engine fan. ?I suspect the previous owner edited a CV that is not influenced with the ATLAS factory reset system since it was not part of the Atlas programming.? Is there a way to find out what CV (or combination of CV's) ?is running that simulated fan noise so I can stop it? ?Can I use DecoderPro to find that CV? THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.......Frank |

The UXB ports are functioning with a wireless mouse/keyboard. I've used them with a flash drive to load JAVA; JMRI and the first time I loaded the LocoBuffer drivers. (Downloaded a fresh copy for the reload). The LocoBuffer LED indicators are all normal. The problem exists with 3 'working' LocoBuffers (2 club owned and my personal LocoBuffer). All 3 work when connected to my personal computer. All indications point to an issue with the computer. I'll be checking the BIOS and following up on Bob Jacobsen's suggestion regarding disabling the USB 3 driver. Ross -----Original Message-----
