Runs Rich

Do all PCs run rich?
How to cure.
Thanks in Advance
?

They run lean from the factory. There's a mix tune procedure in the shop manual. You can remove the turn limiting caps on the mix screws by holding a soldering iron to their heads and gently pulling off with needle nose pliers.

There's a lot of variables with carbs so it would help to provide more details though. Are the plugs fouled? Do the RPM's hang when blipping the throttle? Back-firing? Dirty air and fuel filters? Any mods to the air box or a K&N air filter added? Last time carbs were rebuilt? Try running Seafoam through the gas? Etc...

You get an A+ on that report. Thats why I usually end up doing everything. I did post a contact for a very good carb rebuilder. He is on Ebay. You put the order in and he will contact you.?

Throttle is fine on acceleration and return
Get constant 47 mph.
You can smell the richness when you start it & runs?

Gas mileage is right for a correctly running PC800, (assuming you meant 47MPG).
When started up with the required choke you will smell a rich mixture as the PC800 does not have a Cat Converter.

There should be a sharp ketone odor from the exhaust. Easily recognized if you have smelled it before.

PC800 is known to be jetted lean. May barely run without an air filter. Clogged air filter would make it run rich, but if you are getting around 47 MPG then probably everything is fine.

Stick your finger in the exhaust. It will probably be black but shouldn’t be thick black soot. Thin black soot ok especially after being started.

Pull the spark plugs and look at them. If wet and/or black then problem.
