New Band Added?
Somehow in all my switching this past week chasing the VP8, between CW SSB and FT/8, I accidentally added an extra 30 meter screen to the "Band" up and down. That would be OK except when I try to change it it reverts back to an unusable frequency hi. How did I do it or how do I erase it? I can't seem to find the answer. I see it in memories but nothing about removing it.

Bill: I used an IC-7000 in my truck for quite some time before having
to retire it to my shack, so you'd think I would just know this.
I'm pretty sure though that the 7000 will remember one band in
addition to the standard Ham bands based on what was last used
outside of the Ham bands. What you seem to be saying is that it now has two 30 Meter bands as you use the band up/down buttons. Is one of them close to the 30 Meter Ham band but not in it? Try going to some other non-ham frequency range, such as AM
broadcast or something, then use the up/down band buttons again
to see if that's now the additional band. Chuck On 3/6/2020 10:26 AM, Bill M wrote:

Select the band you want to move while in VFO mode. Press TS to select fast dial then spin to the frequency where you want this extra "band". Press TS to go back to normal dial speed. Now press the Band up/down buttons that that should be your extra band. Don't know how to erase it. I suppose this is really just a "General" band that always ends up where you left it. For what it's worth, I can control the rig (to some extent) with Ham Radio Deluxe but it doesn't do what I'd like.? I think the last time I tried something like changing the IF filter in HRD, it changed something else at the same time.? I need to check that.? The problem is, for an obsolete radio that a few of us own, it's not going to get the attention it would get if it was a something like the IC-7300 that everybody is interested in. I doubt anyone would do it. |

Hi Bill !
You can't put two frequencies of one ham-band into two "bands"... The "extra-band" hast to be outside any amateur-band. For example....with up/down go to 160m...select mode AM and tune to the MW-BC-band... then again push "band up" and you are again on 160m. All the other amateur-bands from 160m to 70cm are still there. Then if you decide (for example) to have the CB-band ? as an "extra-band", go to 10m, tune out of the band to 27.xxx MHz, push again "band up" and you are there, on 10m. The "extra-band" you first "create" (MW) will be "shifted" now between the 12m-band and the 10m-band. Hope this will help... 73, Othmar, OE1SOW |
DogLover2I hadn't thought of that software, but are you sure it works with the 7000?? There's a page of specific features and what radios they work with.? There's no mention of the 7000 in that table. Bob -- W4ATM - 35 Miles south of the Kennedy Space Center Retired RF Design Engineer Now able to play with all the hobbies I never had enough time for |

Bill, the only thing you have to do is:
With "band up" or "band down" go to the 40m-band. Then tune down to 5,xxx MHz with the tuning knob. Next step...with pushing "band up" you should be again on 40m. The new "extra-band" should be now between the 80m- and the 40m-band. If you don't tune out of any other ham-bands, the "extra-band" with 5,xxx MHz will remain there. 73, Othmar, OE1SOW |
In the 5mhz channelized band, makes sense to add then all as memories. NA6MB On Mon, Mar 9, 2020, 12:20 PM Othmar S. <oe1sow@...> wrote: Bill, the only thing you have to do is: |

I am not sure which question is being answered since another topic has been introduced. Each time I have tried the instructions given to move the extra band or to change it, it moves but when I go back to the 30 meter positition it again shows two. And yes to someone who asked is it outside the ham band and the answer is yes but close to 30 meter band. So again I do not know how I created this extra band slot on the up and down. Does anyone know how to remove it?
