DSP filters not crystal filters. With dual passband tuning you can get just about any passband and center frequency in 50Hz and 100Hz steps respectively as long as it remains below the basic bandwidth setting for the filter, which is also variable in principle.

It does not run on batteries at this time. But that is because it does not run at all at this time. Apparently it is still in design not production.

Hi Howard,
As the whole IC-7000 concept is speculative at this stage, I see no harm in a healthy dose of speculation. This can often lead to interesting technical discussion, expressions of wishes/hopes for features and capabilities, etc.
Speculation is encouraged - with the usual caveat that civil and polite discourse is expected. (The alternative to same will simply not be tolerated.)

Don't get me wrong.. I already put one on order this AM .... I love to have the first new toys...
I have no idea what I ordered so it will be a surprise when it comes...
Everyone also seems to have forgotten that the US$ is very weak at this time so that prices will much higher than you expect... __________________________________________________________ Howard S. I know Howard from nattering with him in email on the side. "I'd be willing to introduce him to my mother," so to speak. He seems like a gentleman. The "feeding frenzy" seems to strike him differently than me. I find it mostly amusing. I must say ICOM has built up some very nice customer loyalty. For all that I may cavil about the faults in my ProII I am quite pleased with it. (I just wish it was incrementally better in a few places that should not have cost anything to implement. One gripe probably cost the money of writing some dozen EXTRA lines of code in the DSP ROM. {^_-} The RF engineer in me is very fussy about this sort of thing.)
{^_^} Anyway, W6MKU is not offended. And I hope others are not. I do suspect that getting a life is a good idea, though. Holding your breath until this 7000 puppy is available could be fatal. {^_-}

Infinite dollars today.

Thanks for the support Joanne and Jerry....
My house made the national news tonite... at least the outlets of my new drain pipes where I am pumping torrents of water from the mountain did.. and so did the huge 100'+ cranes holding up the houses below me....Since the cranes are already here, I wonder if I could talk them into letting me borrow the cranes for a few minutes and turn them 180 degrees to install my MonstIR...Now that the torrential rains seem to be subsiding, I am sure those houses won't move that much further down the mountain while we install antennas.....
My XYL says I have a one track mind.. while the whole mountain around us seems to be sliding down into the sea, all I can think about is how to get the MonstIR on top of my 85' tower...and the one positive note is now that those two houses are further down the mountain my propagation to the SouthWest is much less obstructed....
As I said previously I put an IC-7000? on order at HRO today just for the fun of it... and partially to stoke the 'guy thing' envy of those who consider themselve to be "gentlemen"..
Don't know what it is going to cost, don't know what it is, but it should be fun to have the first one.. what ever it is....
While some of the technical speculation on this reflector makes sense and may even be read by Icom, a lot of the speculation on the price point is inane to say the least...
I guess the part I find the most difficult is the continual questions about the unit when all the information that anyone has is the brief 1 page description in the French Magazine.. that's all the information there is right now.. PERIOD
So why bother asking questions about the unit.. when nobody knows anymore than you do?
Reminds me a lot about Wall Street, where everyone asks everyone else about the latest rumor... when in fact no one you ask knows anything...and those who actually might know something are never going to tell you...
{^_^} Anyway, W6MKU is not offended. And I hope others are not. I do suspect that getting a life is a good idea, though. Holding your breath until this 7000 puppy is available could be fatal. {^_-} ----- Original Message ----- From: "MKM" <mab2000@...> To: <ic7000@...> Sent: 2005 February, 26, Saturday 18:48 Subject: Re: [ic7000] How much is the IC-7000 going to cost me?

There is also at least one Lady who posts regularly.
I saw no problem in Howard's posting - but as I remarked earlier, I see no harm in a healthy dose of speculation either. The whole IC-7000 concept is still a matter of conjecture to some degree, until a product announcement appears on an Icom website.
