I consider the new IC7100 a great "arm chair" transceiver.

Had a play with a 7100 last week and would not be so quick to write it off. It was a very well thought out radio. Love my IC7000 and had similar feelings as Dave AD7DB. I think just wait till you have a play and make your mind up. The operating system is similar to the 9100 series. Unfortunately the unit would not TX so did not get a chance of a contact.
