IC 7000 damage

I own a IC 7000.? The? + 13.8 volt line touched the IC7000 ground.

How much damage can this do ?

I assume this has happened to others .

The radio draws a lot of current and will not turn on !

Thanks for any info.? (guesses)

Hopefully it as simy as you just popped a fuze.? Check all fuzes.? There us one on the face of the main portion of the radio behind that 1" square piece of black plastic, the two in-line fuzes, and i don't jnow if there are any internal where you'd have to separate the case.

Sounds like the finals are shorted and drawing excessive current.? I had a 706 years ago that the finals shorted and it drew a lot of current and got hot.

James,

Take your ohm meter and put it in diode mode. Test the power lead that goes into the radio for a short. Swap leads too. It's possible the short is inside the radio.
