Re: [IC-7000] LDG IT-100 Tuner for the IC-7000

Daniel Goodier

Lawrence,

I have been using a LDG IT-100 Tuner with my IC-7000 without any issues for
the past year.

It couldn't be easier to setup and use.

I just moved and sold off my old gear beforehand. I really interested in
getting an IC7000 and figured the LDG IT-100 tuner would be a good match for
it (pun intended).

I'll likely use it more as a base radio as i have limited space for a big
station.

Any comments on using these item together is appreicated!

I have the exact same setup and it works perfect, the IT-100 is made for the IC-7000!

[IC-7000] Re: IC-7000 Power Output Dropping Off

Apparently I must be getting out fine no matter what the power meter says. Just talked halfway across the country on PSK and the power meter dint move at all. I reckon I still have some learning to do.

[IC-7000] Re: IC-7000 Power Output Dropping Off

OK maybe I'm not understanding the ALC adjustment and the power meter correctly. I can adjust the transmit level on the soundcard to the lowest setting in DM780 and I see just a hint of ALC on the ALC meter,
but when I do that I see no movement at all on the power meter. Adjusting the transmit level up a little bit where I see something on the ALC meter I begin to see the power meter go up. Shouldn't the power meter correspond to the RF power I have the radio set at or am I confused?

But, specifically, does the ALC meter still indicate something more than zero
when the power meter fades lower and lower? And is the reflected power the same
with before and after it fades? Both will make a difference.

Actually, you should not show any alc at all on PSK, but since you are having
power fading problems, the above question could be critical in solving your
problem before setting the input correctly.

The wire feeding the radio is at least 10awg I belive, its pretty thick.
I reckon I can clean the fuses with the contact cleaner also and see if that fixes anything.

Re: [IC-7000] VFO Knob

You are correct the one that switches between free and detent tuning is
working properly. The other one may have a mechanical problem with the
switch that is not disengaging the detent tuning.

Afternoon Guys,

I bought two IC-7000s and could someone tell me what happens on the main
tuning dial tension adjust. My two 7000 do not act the same . One of them
always clicks no matter the position of the selector 2oclock position or 4
oclock position but only varies in how hard it is to turn the knob. My other
one has a position that is like freewheeling VFO in I believe the 2 oclock
position. The clicking is great if you are mobile but I plan on operating
both radios fixed and want the free spinning VFO position without any
tension.... I think there is something wrong with the one that clicks in
every position and the book is no help. Can someone please advise.

Thanks for the help.

Do you actually see the ALC kicking into action to reduce power output?

Re: [IC-7000] Re: IC-7000 Power Output Dropping Off

Have you check your Power supply,? and also the wire / fuse going to the Radio??
Wire size and lenght does plays an important part in transferring current from the source to the Radio.
Do also check Antenna fittings to see if everything is tight

I've been noticing mine doing the same thing when looking at the power meter doing PSK31. I'm starting to think it's a heat issue allthough the temp gauge never goes into the red, the case does get awfully hot to the touch. I'm gonna mount a computer fan on top of the case and see if that solves the problem.

After 1/2 - 45 mins power falls off to just over 50W based on radios meter. turn the radio off and then on back to fully power. Leave it on again and the same condition results.

I have tried a Rest and checked all setting. SWR is under 1.5 really closer to Flat.

Re: FLDigi

I have used a similar setup with the IC-7000. All worked with HRD, DXLab & Fldigi. I recall lots of fiddling with software options to get things working. My current setup is RigControl via DX-Commander, Logging Via DX-Keeper, Digital Via Fldigi & I use the "Fldigi-DxKeeper Gateway" by N2AMG to interface between the 3-applications (Fldigi gets the operating frequency from DX-Commander & when I hit "log" in fldigi, it is automatically placed in my DxKeeper log. I don't know if it matters, but I always initiate in the order 1. DX-Commander, 2. DX-Keeper, 3. Gateway. The Gateway then auto-launches fldigi. It works Great, although sometimes the first "transmittal" from fldigi to DX-Keeper takes a while. Subsequent logs are instantaneous. All is in Windows 7.
I hope this helps.

I use fldigi with my 746pro and a CI-V and it does read the frequency and/or control the radio.

If it works with other programs then you must have something set wrong in fldigi. Check if ou have RigCAT or hamCAT selected wiut the right settings.

Re: FLDigi on the 7000

one thing to note: if you use the mini DIN port, you can not key with CI-V commands, you have to key via the PTT pin on the mini DIN port. If you use the CI-V keying commands it will put the radio in transmit mode but it will be taking audio from the 13 pin port (or the microphone) and not from the mini DIN port.

I am new to the 7000, having only one other rig at home, a 7600.

I want to be able to run FLDigi from the PC through the 7000. But, I am finding there is a big difference between the two rigs. For example, in the 7600 all I do is connect the rig to the PC via a USB cable and make sure the Icom drivers are installed on the PC.

The manual tells me I could have 3 possible data connections, the ACC port, Data mini DIN port, and the 3.5 mm phone CI-V connection.

Which is the best to use for my application? and
Would someone please confirm that I am going to need a SignalLink or RigBlaster.

Hoping to hear from someone

The 05 is the North American country code, so your unit is #
13403 off the line for NA. There are no coded messages in any of the numbers
on the box.

There haven't been any significant changes in several years, other than
opening up the 60M band to allow the new channel and other modes (effective
after SN 0514455) as far as I know.

Re: Firmware Version Unchanged Since 2006

Hi everyone. I just purchased a new IC-7000 last month after many years of using a 706. The serial number on my unit is 2501XXX. Not sure if that means the country code has changed. It is a US version with a US waranty card (purchased from AES).

[IC-7000] Re: display help

Maybe a bad/loose connection?

Mine has the "TV" mod (for what it is worth ;) ) and sometimes when I exert moderate pressure on the bottom of the control panel, the display goes all goofy (i.e., smearing or blanking out) until I let go. Found this by coincidence, and it does not happen every time. Otherwise, the display works great. When I get some time, I may look into the display/control head to see if there is anything obviously wrong.
