Re: [IC-7000] 100% power with BPSK31?

Hi!Hi Robert, Ik kom jou ook overal tegen ;) It probably won't hurt the trx, but the linearity will suffer causing excessive sidebands. Just increase power until you see the ALC come up. Back it down after that. Be sure to actually sent out text when you do this test, as the power goes up and down on psk 73, |
Re: [IC-7000] IC 7000 Manual Notch Filter

Jim - Mine has two - either, both, or neither operational as selected. Press (and hold) the MNF button. You should see 'NOTCH" followed by two linear displays, labeled 'MF1' and MF2', and one more (no display) labeled 'NW'. These are for the "F" selector buttons. Pressing F2 allows you to select/set the center frequency for 'MF1' - pressing 'F3' selects/sets 'MF2'. Repeatedly pressing either one will first select it, next make it adjustable, or finally, turn it off. Pressing 'F4' sets the width of the notch for the selected filter. Pressing the 'MF' button once more switches back to the menu display (M1,M2, etc.) but leaves the MF's set to their last condition. At least, that's how mine works. Hope this helps. 73, Norm W6NIM Concrete, WA |
IC 7000 Manual Notch Filter
James Brock
I sent my unit to Icom for repair. But I seem to recall that I was able to
use BOTH manual notch filters at the same time when I sent in. It came back and only ONE filter would activate at one time. I inquired the repair shop and they said the unit was operating correctly and to look at the operations manual. Sure enough it, though poorly written, says only one operates at one time. Is my seventy-one year old mind failing me? Are there other IC-7000's out there that have are equipped to operate BOTH manual notch filters at the same time. Jim W7DAU Eugene, OR |
MNF
James Brock
I am not sure about this. I "seem" to recall that in the past I was able to
pull up and operate TWO manual notch filters at the same time. What brought this on is I sent the unit in for repair, some static off the vertical antenna nailed me. The unit came back from ICOM repaired and I tried to use the MNF. The choice, one OR the other and both off. I thought it used to be one AND the other or off. I liked to use the steep filter on both sides of the signal that cut down the noise level somewhat. I live fourteen block south of the University of Oregon in a residential area and my noise level is very high. What is correct/ BTW, just heard on TV news it was official announced. Our University of Oregon Ducks football team is second nation. Not bad for a bunch of ducks! Jim W7DAU |

Re: Strange issues with output power
George
Hi.
After Christmas and my Birthday, I have been busy at work. As the radio sees a lot of use, I decided to send the radio back to Icom. The estimate they sent me was for a new RD70HHF1 FET PA. I really doubt that the device has gone, but, now I've sent it to them, I'll have to pay anyway. The transistors were marked, so I will see if they were actually replaced when the radio is returned. But ultimately as long as it works, I don't care. The total repair bill as follows: 1560001601 FET RD70HHF1-101 (?41.15) Carriage Charge (?6.50) Labour Charge (55.00) Ex VAT: (?102.65) VAT: (?20.53) Total: (?123.18) I will report back if the transistors were actually changed. Cheers, M1GEO. |

At home depot the other day I seen a can of plastic insualtion for dipping the handles of your pliers in, that ought to work but youd have to brush it on as dipping it would get it inside the connector where its makes contact.
Another idea is heat shrink tubing, even better than that, at the auto parts store (Oriely's) I seen they had some heat shrink tape a couple weekends ago, I bought some and used it on a couple of my projects and it worked out pretty good. |
Re: [IC-7000] No transmit on -10.00M Split
There is documentation available on 'opening up' the IC-7000 to access out of band frequencies for use on MARS, CAP, Coast Guard Auxiliary, etc.?authorized frequencies.? Would that procedure allow Silas to setup his special repeater split?

A USA version radio will only transmit on 70 cm from 430-450MHz, as documented in the manual.

No transmit on -10.00M Split

When setting up a special repeater memory. 433.600 -10.00M split and pl tone. I am getting no transmit light when keying up.
I am setting VFO A to 433.600 and setting VFO B to 423.600 PL tone 100. the screen shows FM-TONE on TX frequency. Turning on split, and storing into memory. Will not key up. When I do key it shows VFO B frequency on the screen and tone. It's also showing "-10.00M" @ bottom of screen, but no TX light. I have verified other split frequencies to work, and all simplex, and other set repeaters work fine. It just seems to be this one repeater. Any Ideas? Thank you sincerely. -Silas |

Tape works. Comes in assorted colors. Wrap it. Spray it with Krylon!
