Keeping up with language 5
As P2 practitioners we need to make sure that engagements are inclusive and the language we use is a big part of that. With language ever changing, how do we make sure we are using the right terms in the right context? How do you or your organization stay current? Does your organization have a list of 'preferred terms' (for example 'interested parties' instead of 'stakeholders').

Is it research or is it engagement? or are they the same thing?
Hi folks - we are having an interesting debate here in Manitoba Hydro that I would love to hear others' perspectives! We have groups here that focus on customer research and others that focus on engagement with stakeholders and rights holders. We sometimes use similar techniques - surveys, focus groups etc. Our folks that do customer research mean something very specific when they say research - the rigor that is applied, the sample size etc. When we use similar terminology around engagement efforts that can create tension and concern. Have others run into this in your practice? Is there a definition or delineation you use that is helpful to distinguish between the two?

How do you evaluate the success of your engagement? 5
How do you evaluate the success of your engagement? We often use measurements like the number of people that participated and participation rates from underrepresented groups. These measurements leave out a lot. How have you evaluated the engagements you have completed? Thanks, Matt

Stakeholder Management and Engagement Tracking Tools
Wanted to start a conversation about Stakeholder Management and Engagement Tracking tools. What is your go-to or favorite tool or provider, and what do you like about it? I'll start! For a couple of our big projects right now our clients are using DIMEC. Aside from the fact that they are based in Canada and they deliver an easy to use dashboard and great customer support, what sold me on DIMEC was that they provide the tracking platform, customizable coding and reporting, and, the best part, the DIMEC team does all the data entry for us! Oh and their services are super affordable! I attached some additional info for anyone interested in learning more. Looking forward to hear about the software or platforms that work well for you. Happy New Year, everyone! A colleague of mine and I took the IAP2 "Hybrid Engagement Leader" course (two hours, Kim Hyshka) in early December. Kim is offering a more fulsome course in Feb. Would this be a good topic for an upcoming Chapter Chat?
