Method to etch a pcb that is safe to fingers and clothing (stains)

Hello everyone,?Hydrogen peroxide and muriatic acid work, but as they continue to be used, they will turn green/olive green, which stains clothes. The Peroxide will bleach dyes, and the acid is, after all, an acid. Ferric chloride stains a lot, although I've heard that oxalic acid helps with it. Ammonium perchlorate is another chemical that may be more useful, but I'm not sure if it stains too much when used a bit (copper salts). Harvey Thanks in advance |

Slow but effective is a 50-50 mix of vinegar (7% acetic acid) and hydrogen peroxide (3% by volume). Add standard table salt (NaCl) until the fizzing stops.? Heating the solution will increase the etch rate significantly.? Add more salt during the etch if it
slows down. You can etch a 2oz board in less than an hour.
When you are done etching, you can add aluminum foil scraps to the solution to get the Cu to precipitate out of solution, leaving aluminum acetate (which is non-toxic). Keep adding aluminum until it no longer dissolves.? Let the solution evaporate, and you
can dump what is left in the trash.

开云体育Muriatic acid and hydrogen peroxide 6 minutes etch time.Noting that the mixer is 1 part acid to 2 parts peroxide. Noting that the peroxide is 97 percent water and the acid is 68 percent water so the etch bath is pretty much diluted and nothing to fear. Wear glasses..... latex gloves.... keep the bath at arms length when picking up or placing PCBs..... use a wooden coffee stirrer to lift and drain PCB.... and run a light fan to move fumes. Hey guys, thanks for your replies. First I will try out the vinegar, hydrogen peroxide and salt. 开云体育This is a very good "solution". I've been using this etch solution for over ten years with very good results. I purchase the acid from a local swimming pool supply store, and the peroxide from Walgreen's drug store. Be careful with the acid. Try it. The components are cheap. Regards, RFH **** Many PCB houses of medium production in India use combination of muratic Acid and hydrogen peroxide. |
