Scam gear sale
2
Aloha hams, Here's a follow-up on the recent mail I sent. ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: <ve3rwj@...> Date: Wed, Mar 22, 2023 at 3:33 AM Subject: [Amps] SCAM ALERT - Ham Radio Equipment For Sale "Moving To Australia" To: <amps@...> I've already seen the scam show up on some groups.io communities I belong to. I'm not going to include a copy of the email here, but I will describe it briefly. The email claims to be from a very new Technician class ham in Texas, who claims to be selling many high-end Yaesu, Icom, Flex, and Kenwood transceivers. Why? Because he is supposedly moving to Australia. It is popping up all over the place, and responding gets you lots of lovely SPAM Here's a video someone just made about this scam. <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPoX7hCHILs> Be careful online. 73, Chris ================== Jim WH6GS, Moderator

2023 ARRL Volunteers on the Air (VOTA) Contest - W1AW/KH6
2
Hi Everyone, I am only sending this to my limited email contacts list so further dissemination would be appreciated. You may be aware that a year-long ARRL contest (but open to non-ARRL members as well) will be running throughout 2023. Each ARRL Section (by State) shall have W1AW/xxx representative stations during their assigned weeks. Nebraska is first up starting 1-11-2023. 2 separate weeks in this year shall be for our local participation as W1AW/KH6. The ARRL International HF DX Contest weekend is set aside for, already designated, local stations. This was handled separately from this contest. The first week for KH6 is: February 7th 14:00 HST to February 14th 14:00 HST (February 8th through February 15th, UTC). The second is in early December. December 6 (UTC). The QSO exchange to be logged is date, time (UTC), call and signal report. You must agree to accept the responsibility of uploading ADI (ADIF) logs of your operation to a yet to be published link. W1AW/xxx shall be represented by those who formally sign up with local coordinators for every ARRL Section (by State) and agree to the requirements. Also, volunteer ARRL personnel operating individually using their call signs throughout the year are also workable. Making QSO's with these stations will constitute "collecting" them towards your final score. The rules for the contest are available here: Volunteers On the Air (arrl.org) FOR MY PART, I am the coordinator for KH6 for SSB operation ONLY. Others have been designated to coordinate CW (Lloyd Cabral KH6LC) and DATA (Michael Miller KH6ML), respectively. Their email/contact information shall be published by others. I shall be ready to receive formal sign-ups on Sunday morning, January 8 ( 7 am HST). This is subject to change. This is for the February period only. You may email me or contact me by phone. Read the ARRL VOTA page first. General questions should be addressed to Joe Speroni, AH0A, Section Manager, ah0a@... .
