Hey Zoners!
I want to thank Darren, our fine mate from the UK, for finding these
valuable documents! As you all know, this is the issue that determines the
viability of re-producing a TWG assembly. No real "work" has been done on
this thing, as all of my contacts have simply been in the
pen/pencil/paper/computer stage right now. All of these folks are

this work gratis either because of their fascenation with the project or
they owe me somethin' :). They all know nothing serious begins until we
ascertain patent status. Thanks to Darrin (I'm uploading a four-pack of
Guinness to you, mate), I now have a good place to start with the patents.
I've already sent Darrin's info to my attorney who has a good patent
attorney on his staff. Sometime next week, he will be in contact with the
appropriate folks at H-S regarding the disposition of the patents and how
many are involved. Best case scenario, but very unlikely, is the purchase

the patents. Far more possible, is a license arrangement of some type. If
neither of these options work out, enough has been learned from my
associates that we can produce replacement tonewheels, gears and coils

inexpensively. So we'll go into the parts business! Hehe. Since I've met

you lot, my Hammond work has increased dramatically and I haven't even
advertised. Rather than work on whole organs (none around here), I get

a steady stream of amps and TWGs for reconditioning. So any parts I create
will be used well. No fear, mates. More fun to come!

t402...doesn't pull any punches..heh.

Its kind of irrelivent though, the original patents still stand.
Maybe it would be better to buy up the generators that are still
around, strip and rebuild those (a recon exchange maybe, that way
your always sure of stock), plus you dont have to worry about getting
a thrashing in the courts. T402 is right about copies...I think that
most would rather have a fully reconditioned Hammond TG than a
copy...if they want a copy they could buy a new B3.

One thing though...its great to see so many teaming up like this;
Raul has obviously done a lot of work on the project already, but I
realy feel that efforts would be wiser spent concentrating on the
TG's that are already out there. Starting small and having just a
couple in stock that are recon'd. I doubt there would be a problem
remanufacturing seperate parts, but out of courtesy I would still
want to get written permission from Hammond; with over 500 of us on
this list there is bound to be one or two that would be likely
customers!

The hammondzone email has ground to a halt as I am still having major
ISP problems, I can access only about 10% of the net. I posted the
patent message 24 hours ago, and it only just appeared 4 hours ago!!

As soon as I can get ISP problems resolved the hammondzone email will
be up and running, as it is, Bigmailbox time out from here.
