hi everyone
back after my travels now. Had an extra week on the Cornish coast,
rather a bonus; had to see a guy with an XB3 who had some...lets
say.."cabinet problems".
Welcome to all you new people to the list...there were loads of you!
I had an interesting chat with Jay Darlington from Kula Shaker the
other day. Did you know every recording was made on an XB3? I didn't
know that...pity they packed up. Jay is working in a warehouse
now...we are being deprived of a great player there.
I saw the message about ideas for improvements to the XK2. The split
vibrato would have been a great idea. I would like to know if its
possible to add that or if its to late...I'll keep you posted.
Oh yes...someone recognised the hammond photo I posted three weeks
ago..it was a bit of a red herring sorry...lol It was indeed an XB3
transplanted into an F2000 cabinet after both of them reached the end
of their useful life. The X5 was well tattered but electronically
sound with like new drawabs and keybeds. The F2000...well lets just
say it has gone to a better place:)
Any suggestions for a good multi channel amp for my transplanted X5?
I retro fitted it with MIDI, and just cant get the right sound. It
has to be internal...two or three channel (one for organ, one for
MIDI instrument) I fitted a single rotor internal Leslie from a T500
so it can be used stand alone, but it retains its 9 pin output so
still works with my 900 Leslie...but thats MASSIVE and not the
greatest Leslie ever made.
Going back to the XK2, if anyone has any suggestion there is a major
R&D meeting in Japan this month. Representitives from each of the
Hammond Offices will be going to discuss the way Hammond will move
from here. So if you have any ideas, I can forward them for you,
believe me the powers that be are all to eager to listen...thats how
every modern Hammond product is born. The Japanese are great at
making things...but their market research leaves a little to be
desired...so tell em what you want next! (please no "why cant Hammond
make a tonewheel organ?" ..hehe)
I dont want you to think I am turning this into a Hammond Suzuki
message board...its my own personal idea for us to swap ideas, advice
and generally have a bit of fun..as was most of hammond-organ.com,
(which is well overdue for some changes I know!!) But I thought you
might like to have a chance to make some noises:)
