[hammond_zone] a problem never comes alone

question?--- when you have the leslie just a few inches from the organ -to store the excess leslie cord- did you wrap it tight around and around itself--- sometimes this can cause a humming noise--note--you said it stopped when you moved the leslie away from the organ-thus you must have streched the leslie cord--- try leaving the leslie close but leave the leslie cord loose---- hope that helps--bluesb3

Thanx for the tips everyone, I'll let you know what happens with the whole "input phono" thing. By the way, the distorsion problem seems to be fine right know, I haven't done anything yet but now it's all good! I think I'll have a tech check the gear to know for sure what's wrong, I fear the problem will come out again.

Another thing still bothers me, could you please tell me if this is a normal phenomenon :
When the Leslie stands right next to the organ (a few inches away) I can hear a little hum as I play chords. It happens only when the Leslie is in chorale speed and only when I press keys. It's the same on both upper and lower keyboards, and the hum gets louder when drawbars are full 8.
I solved the problem by myself in the most simple way : I moved the Leslie as far as possible away from the organ, and there's no hum at all anymore, but I really wonder what's going on. Any ideas ?
Thanx again,

Marc.

close together. have to do some memory jogging here..anyone else heard

Nota bene - The Matching transformer is mounted to the far upper left
inside the console, from the players view. It is *very* sensitive to outside
fields, most notably the slow motor from a leslie sitting close to the console,
to the player's left. Anything (especially an old hammond clock!) will make that
thing hum.
I would avoid placing anything electrical on or around the left side of the
organ. It's kinda like laying a Strat on a breaker box. You get the idea.

Jogged. and duly noted. Thanks Darren!

The Mod is to move the leslie over to the right side.

Or. wrap the organ in Mu_metal. (A rather leadlike sheet material
that shields sensitive equip. from stray electromagnetic fields).

I've suggested this before on other forums, and was deservedly
chastised, as it was just a joke to begin with, and somebody didn't get
it.
