Dear Volker,
?
I have been working many years with the Hammond XB-2, and despite the fact that this is now almost becoming a vintage instrument it is still superior to the Roland clone! It is almost as you can feel the difference while playing, regardles that the keys are wrong on both of them. Playing with closed eyes you can instantly tell the difference whether it is a Hammond or a copy.
?
If you can get your hands on a XK-2 it is even better, there you have the unique keyboard as well. I do agree with Darren, that the clones might sound great on certain tunes, but Hammond does it all around, and I assume you still want to play more than a few tunes!?
?
Best regards
Lars

Have you looked at the Oberheim OB3-2, or the Voce V5 box? I have the XB-2
and OB3-2, and I like the Oberheim better than the Hammond. I don't own
the Voce, but I have used one, and the sound is very impressive. I am not a
big van of the VK-7, because I think the upper octaves sound thin. The big
question is "How much do you want to spend"?

Hi everybody,

I'm considering to get me a Hammond clone, because I'm tired of hiring a
bunch of vans every time I have to play organ. My choice is almost made,
but I'm still doubting between the Roland VK-7 and the Hammond XB2. It
would be great if you guys could share your opinions on these two!

Thanks in advance!

You can get a drawbar module or a full-keyboard version. I use the
full-keyboard version.
