Re: [hammond_zone] leslie 122 half moon

That's how they work in Australia aint it?

Re: [hammond_zone] Future's Up To Us

Raul,
Sounds like you got a keeper there, your obviously doing something
right. Kids are so cool but a lot of the credit goes to the parent and what
they expose them to. I got a 16yr. old boy that was exposed to real Rock.
Shreds the hell out of his SG (Anus Young Model) and holds intelligent
conversations on the likes of Clapton and Hendrix. He laughs out loud at
bands like Blink 182 and the lot. I have no worries about the state of future
Rock due to the likes of your daughter and my son. The future is actually up
to how and where we point our kids. I'd also like to respond to the comments
about people who play in the streets that "take your money for a quick fix"
or a couple of other ignorant views. I spent a whole weekend in Glasgow
listening to the street musicians, many of whom were using the money to
continue their education's at University. My hat is off to them. Maybe the
junkies someone spoke about are south of Hadrian's wall. Long Live Scotland!
OHF Bob
PS I'm also teaching my boy how to play WITH a keyboardist rather than OVER
them. God knows we need more keyboardist-friendly guitarist!

Re: [hammond_zone] Small Minds busking

Just an interesting tid bit here. I actually seen a dude with a C3 and
147 leslie on the street outside of an old theatre that shows weird
stuff once in awhile just down the street from a blues bar. No the organ
wasn't from the theatre, and at night he would just cover it up with old
moving blankets and leave it there for about two weeks during the fringe
festival in Edmonton Alberta. Busking with a Hammond, right on!!!!!

If you have never heard Sky, I suggest you check them out. Toccata is as
heavy as hell fire, not what you would expect from a classical guitarist.
Their range is vast, from harpsichord solos to electric guitar solos to drum
solos to tuba solos... yes really, a solo on a tuba! Tristan Fry
(percussion/tuba) is a miracle worker. They (to my knowledge) only made
three albums:

Sky 1
Sky 2
You've guessed it
Sky 3

If you can't find them, I'll do you a sample tape if you want.

You think that Debussy's original was surreal, Tomita played it using as
many weird synth sounds as he could. Surrealicity (hey, just invented a
word).

Sorry to hear about your Dad, the power of music helps no end don't it?

Cheers

Hi,
The jack on the front is headphones, it's a standard fitting. As you
suspect the one on the back is a later addition and could be a line out or
a
line in. Depends what the original owner wanted. Line in sockets were
often fitted for use with rhythm unit accessories or synthesiser/electric
piano type keyboards.

One more question while I think of it - in the top right corner of

one on the hardboard back panel (this one looks like it might have

The one on the cloth grill is a headphone jack/output. The one on the back
is almost definitely an input. I have the same on mine. I go from the
headphone jack, into the X5 and the sound comes out of the 760! Two organs
through one speaker, amazing how differently they sound as well.

Subject: RE: [hammond_zone] Evenin' all...

Much obliged, and cheers to all for the warm welcome!

One more question while I think of it - in the top right corner of
the T202 front speaker cloth is a 1/4-inch jack socket, there's also
one on the hardboard back panel (this one looks like it might have
been added later). Neither is mentioned in the manual as far as I can
see, but the pics in the PDF manual are pretty lousy. I'm kind of
assuming the front one may be a headphone jack, the rear maybe a
line-out. Am I close to the truth or risking life, soul and
tonewheels?!

Cheers,
The Norwegian Blue...

Welcome Bruce, (chuckles to self)

Sorry... sounds like a Monty Python sketch! LOL!

Seriously, I have a T202 as well... and I'm in the UK.... something in
common already! The 02 part refers to the cabinet style of the instrument,
the T200 was the basic model the top of the range being the T500 series. I
have an M102 as well, and as you have probably guessed... it has the same
cabinet, although somewhat nicer grain to the wood and better finish (due
to
being older). The rest of my Hammond family consists of an L122 and an X5.
Also a collection of Leslies... 120, 125, 145, 760.

Can you tell I love Hammonds??

Enjoy your time with us! Your more than welcome. Tell your friends.

This is soooo cool. I wish I would have had someone to teach me about
Hammonds when I was a child. I don't think a whole lot of females are
into fixing Hammonds. You go little girl!!! Ann.

Tis true, George, tis true. Many of you already know that my 6-year
old girl
has already taken a LARGE interest in the electronics and mechanical
end of
Hammonds. She has expressed to me that "while she likes the organ
music and
would like to learn to play someday, right now she wants to learn
how to fix
it" Hmmmmmmm. She's already helped me clean the drawbar assembly and
helped
change all the pusher springs on my pedal board. This last weekend,
she
learned to solder. Scarrrrry!! A new Hammond tech on the way,
folks!!

Many thanks Jim.
Jim, I think it's great that you are getting the instrument for
your
daughter. I started playing the organ when I was in Jr. High and
I'm so
grateful that I had parents who encouraged me and supported that
interest.
