Fw: CD-3 pro-Palestine CT INDEPENDENT PARTY candidate?: Tuesday 8/20/24 5pm New Britain, CT: IMAM ZAID SHAKIR at the "MEET & GREET" of Justice for Palestine in Congress candidate Ahmad Darwish: Please RSVP here online: https://jpc.vote/fundraiser
We do not have a Green ballot line for Congressional District 3 (Rosa DeLauro's seat), but the Independent Party does. Anyone can apply for endorsement, but I think they are especially looking for a pro-Palestine candidate. (Or should I say pro-ceasefire, since "pro-Palestine" does not necessarily play well with Jewish voters?) David Bedell www.green34.us From: Omar Scott Antar <o.antar22222@...> Sent: Wednesday, August 14, 2024 5:43 PM To: Omar Antar Scott <O.antar22222@...> Subject: CD-3 pro-Palestine CT INDEPENDENT PARTY candidate?: Tuesday 8/20/24 5pm New Britain, CT: IMAM ZAID SHAKIR at the "MEET & GREET" of Justice for Palestine in Congress candidate Ahmad Darwish: Please RSVP here online: https://jpc.vote/fundraiser Hi everyone, As you can see below, Ben Wesley was successful in putting his name in consideration for the CD-4 ballot line under the CT INDEPENDENT PARTY, as a pro-Palestine candidate! According to Chip Beckett's texts, there is still time to put in a CD-3 candidate hat in the ring at the last minute, as per his instructions below, since parties only have to give their candidates to the state for printing on the ballot in early September to my knowledge: Me: “Is it too late for someone to put their name in the ring for CD-3? Thanks” Chip: ”Fill out the questionnaire and pledge and the group can discuss” Me: ” Does the candidate have to be registered in CD-3?” Chip: “I think so, in order to take the seat” Would anyone receiving this email, who is formally registered in the Greater New Haven area's federal Congressional district (CD-3), wish to be a CD-3 pro-Palestine CT INDEPENDENT PARTY candidate? Even if not, would you konw of someone else who you think would be interested? If so, please let us know ASAP, because the deadline might be before this Sunday. Please find the relevant websites below for the questionnaire and pledge (attached) as per Chip Beckett's instructions above. Attached are Ben Wesley's sample answers as well. thanks. omar ----------------------------- Here is the list of requirements for being considered a CT INDEPENDENT PARTY candidate as per their website, including questionnaires and pledges: https://ctindependents.org/candidate-instructions-for-endorsement-by-the-ct-independent-party/ Independent Party Members 2. Fill out the Candidate Questionnaire and email to info@... where it will be reviewed by our State Central Committee (SCC). https://ctindependents.org/candidate-survey/ 3. Sign the Pledge Statements (attached) and email to info@.... https://ctindependents.org/pledge-statement/ 4. Please advise the State Central Committee of your intentions to run by ......?. The SCC will review and endorse candidates on a rolling basis in Late July through August. Endorsements need to be made to the Secretary of State’s office by September 4, 2024. But since one might be often unopposed, you probably would have a good chance. But they don’t do much foreign policy. I guess one would be fighting their wish to cross endorse the Republican and keep ballot access by getting at least 1% of the votes. So it appears that if you wish to be considered for their nomination as a candidate, if they have ballot line access, (which they do for CD-3), you have to appeal to them and their self described “centrism” to approve you as their candidate. One might look at their legislative desires here: https://ctindependents.org/mission/ ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Benjamin Wesley Date: Mon, Aug 12, 2024 at 8:55 PM Subject: Pro-Palestinian State and Ceasefire Congressional Candidacy in CD-4 Hi everyone, Some of you know the Independent Party of Connecticut has ballot access for Congress in the 4th district of Connecticut(includes Bridgeport, Norwalk and Stratford). Because none of the major candidates(Congressman Jim Himes nor the 2 republican challengers) have committed to a ceasefire and a free independent Palestine, I've submitted an application for the ballot access for the congressional seat. The Independent Party will make it's decision this Sunday, 8/18 at the Elks club in Glastonbury,

Drop by next Thursday, 7-25, 5:30-7:30PM, at MOTW Coffee, 296 Crown St, New Haven, to sign the petition or to turn in petitions you have circulated. David Bedell From: Justin Paglino <justin@...> Sent: Friday, July 19, 2024 5:55 PM To: Douglas and Claire Lary <dlary@...>; GPCT Petitions <gpctpetitions@...>; Ronna Stuller <rstuller@...>; David Bedell <dbedellgreen@...> Cc: [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]>; [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: CTGP petition update 7-19 (to the 2nd half of circulator list) Dear Green Party CT circulators, as we move into the final phase of our petition drive, I ask you to please make note of the following, and note to please reach out to us via gpctpetitions@... 1. Please don’t wait till last minute to hand in your sheets, we’d like to be make arrangements NOW to collect what you have, so we can process them and prepare them for hand in. You can collect additional signatures after this and we can make additional arrangements for those sheets. Remember that the back of each sheet must be signed by you IN THE PRESENCE of a qualified witness. You can either arrange to have your signatures witnessed by a local public notary or Justice of the Peace, or one of our qualified witnesses can arrange to meet you. 2. A great way to make these arrangements now is to attend our Petitioning office hours TONIGHT (Friday) 7pm to 8:45PM hosted by Doug Lary : https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81141036730?pwd=anNuQmU0aSs0TjJEby9vbXdSdGY1dz09 - or start the conversation by emailing gpctpetitions@... - Attend office hours for this reason and to have any questions answered or to volunteer as a driver (See below). 3. One opportunity to have your current sheets turned in and notarized will be at MOTW Coffee, This Thursday, 5:30 to 7:30PM, July 25, 296 Crown St, New Haven, CT 06511. David Bedell and I will be there to receive you and your sheets! 4. We are going to need DRIVERS. We need volunteers. There will be a lot of driving required to drop off petitions to various town clerks. This is a different sort of volunteer work but very necessary. We need individuals with availability during the day, when town clerks are open, who are comfortable with the responsibility of delivering these hard-earned signatures to town clerks and obtaining receipts for each drop off that acknowledge the number of sheets and signatures received. For larger deliveries it will be best to call and arrange a time with the town clerk in advance. 5. As appreciation of your hard work and as incentive to please do what you can in this final push, the Justin Paglino for US Senate campaign is offering a $50 gift card to the restaurant of your choice to the top 5 volunteer circulators (those not on the Ballot Access Committee or paid petitioners). We are at over 6700 signatures that we know of and contracted with paid petitioners for an additional 2 to 3 thousand, so to reach our goal of 11,500 raw signatures we would love to see our volunteers collect an additional 1,800 beyond what we now know of. This is doable, but now is the time to make the effort. Thank you all greatly, -Justin Justin Paglino, MD, PhD Guilford, CT Jill Stein’24, Field Director Green Party of Connecticut, co-Chair Greater New Haven Green Party, Chair Green Party of the United States, National Committee Delegate
