They had a bit of good luck when there was a little muddle over responder's range against them on Board 7 when they emerged with a top board. We began with N-S having consecutive slams on Boards 2 and 3 of the easy variety and then a trickier E-W slam on Board 5. The BBO server seems to be having trouble; it would not let me in and then I got in for about two minutes but the pending tournaments would not load and eventually the site told me I didn't have any. I left the site and cannot get back in. I'll keep trying but the site may be down today.

Myrne went undefeated, drawing the fifth round against Robbot and defeating all their other opponents. Cinise lost the first round badly but recovered well by winning out. The last round was the exciting one - Board 16 had a slam everyone bid and two pairs even tried for grand slam, although the small slam needed right-siding. Glynneth were the only pair to win seven rounds, losing only to Elott and Karleta. Karleta were the only pair to lose only one round (against Diabot), finishing 4-1-4 with a very high number of draws, likely a record for a nine-round game. Perhaps the unusual part is that the E-W placements were all taken by the C stratum, which I do not recall as happening before. The hands were fairly tame with not many opportunities for brilliancies. Board 4 had some passouts and Board 13 was a rainbow hand. We almost had everyone in the same contract on Board 14. No slams were attempted or should have made had they been, nor did I see anything brilliant at the time, although there is always hope in the analysis. 12 tables The strangest thing about this game is that the four pairs that finished on top all lost the first round; Conndy even started with a zero but went on to be the only pair to win seven rounds. Harbot and Pharah both won six. Giselaine were undefeated through five rounds but hit a bad patch towards the end. Lernot were in second place overall after eight rounds. There were no slams made (two were attempted but were not good) but we did have the rare feat of game attempted in all four suits on Board 14 - too bad nobody tried 3NT. Clubs were unusually popular as trumps today; Eric, Gisela and Jane (M) both declared 5C on two consecutive hands. Indeed, at all three of their tables 5C was the contract more often than 3NT!
