Francis, several days ago I attempted to end this discussion by saying

this rant designed to promote socialism.

- loyalties are at. During this time, the minority party tried to raise
- the minimum wage three times, and the majority party shot it down.
- Even at these current raises by the states, the folks making minimum
- wage are still under the poverty level in this country. Congress
- changed hands today, so I expect a federal minimum wage increase is
- around the corner pretty soon.
- Lets say that if one worked 8 hours a day, 5 days per week, at 4
- weeks per month, times 12 months, what would their gross income be at
- $7.25 an hour? It comes up to a whopping $13,920! They shouldn't be
- any income tax as that's under the minimum to file I think, unless
- any states are stricter on state income tax. Rent is around $500 a
- month at the cheapest around here (unless you live in squalor or the
- projects), then you have the utility bills. If you have kids, then
- it's worse as one still has to eat. What do you then do if you get
- sick? I seen on a news show that Walmart does offer health insurance,
- but you have to pay for it out of your payroll check at about $120+ a
- month. At that, I think that's per person if I recall. The employees
- simply can't afford this, so they end up on Medicaid if they have
- children. Medicaid is paid for out of both federal and state tax
- dollars that we contribute. If Walmart was unionized, they would
- receive health benefits through the company with a guaranteed
- retirement benefit. They would also be able to raise grievances and
- be protected from immediate termination at any time some boss get's a
- burr up his/her ass. Right now, Walmart advises any vendor to move
- their production to China if they want to sell to them. This so they
- can double or triple on the products they sell to us and make the CEO
- a fortune. That golden parachute is all that counts to them. To top
- it all, at one time, Walmart bragged they bought all they could from
- US manufacturers. Walmart if NOT the only one doing this
either.
- The company I used to work for, ACF Industries, practically shut down
- both union plants they have. They are in Huntington, WV, and Milton
- PA. Now, they only have them making piece parts with no new RR car
- production, and about 1/8 the work force. They built 2 new plants in
- Arkansas, one for tank cars and the other for the center flow hopper
- car they made here in Huntington. In the union plants, a welder made
- about $12 an hour plus bonus (equalling about $16 an hour), and all
- the union benefits. There, a welder gets about $8 an hour in a
non-
- union shop.
- Best,
- Will

I think you mean "no censorship". Censure refers to a group formally voting to reprimand something. Censorship is what was happening at the old group.

Closure or cloture?
Censor or censure?
At Wally World this morning I went looking for that plastic stuff that you slide on the edge of your car door to keep it from chipping paint off of other people's cars in parking lots.
The stuff is clear plastic and has an opening on one edge and maybe some glue or sticky stuff to keep it on the car door.
It will be used on fan openings in the power supply module and on the RF deck to finish the 4-1/2" holes, under the grilles.
There was a guy with a WW badge standing at the register in the Automotive Department. I asked him if he knew where the door edge protectors might be.
When he answered, "I don't have the faintest idea," I knew it was a wasted trip. He had a computer terminal right in front of him, but he probably wasn't authorized to use it.
So then I went on to try and find a sandblaster and powdercoater for the cabinetry. HA!
$150.00 for sand/bead blasting $175.00 for the base coat/ steel protective coating $150.00 for the finish coat
This is for a 23 x 24 x 18 steel box.
In New Jersey I could get this whole thing chrome-plated for $100.00, and sandblasting is included.
So I figure about twelve cans of textured black Rustoleum spray at $5.17 per can ought to do it just fine. If I could find a local source of VHT Wrinkle-Black for that price I would probably go that route again. The last two chassis projects turned out just fine with wrinkle finish, and it matches the old Collins stuff just great.

Hal, You are looking for crow's feet. A term used in the aircraft industry?protecting a wire?bundle goes through a bulkhead. It usually comes in 4 foot hunks. There are a number of different thicknesses. Picture a u shaped channel with square notches cut out of the two sides to let it go around the I.D. of a hole. How about McMaster - Carr?

- ### What's wrong with Socialism ?? Works here. What needs to
- be gov't run is stuff like medical/dental/ residential
- water/commercial AC power production/ car insurance/ Ferry sytems,
- etc. At least that's our idea of.."socilism" You privatize
any
- of that just mentioned... and prices skyrocket.. and standards drop.
- ## case in point.... in VE6 land... they had this brilliant idea
- they would privatize.. and sell off ALL AC power production. The
- idea was that private co's would invest Billions in new power
- production. They were gonna chop it up into 8-10 pieces. When
- only 4-5 co's showed up... they were surprised... and proceeded
- to divvy up the province of alberta into North south east west.
- The co's are real happy now. NONE of em compete with each
- other... since they have their own turf. None of em are the
- slighest bit interested in spending Billions to generate new AC
- power. [the provincial gov't there thought with some co spending
- billions on new power... rates would...drop]. Instead... there
- was no increase in production at all.... rates went up as much as
- 450 % !!
- ### In the UK... they did the same thing with their various water
- supply's for residential water. Their water rates have gone up
- 400 % ! They also privatized the construction of new hospital
- facilities.... now the consumer is paying through the nose for it.
- ### cheap electric/water rates means a better economy. You start
- paying sky high rates... and the one of 2 things happen.... either
- increased production costs get passed onto the consumer... or co XXX
- sells up... and moves. In VE6 land... they had foundries that had
- been there a long time... and couldn't compete with the province of
- manitoba [VE4 land].... due to the huge difference in electrical
- rates. The foundries in VE6 land moved to VE4 land.
- ## If u wanna pay retail + 100%... go for it. Most of us like the
- wholesale rate.
- later... Jim VE7RF

Steve et al,
Without taking a stand on either side of the argument I will say this...
Bob, KR4DA, started this group to give us a place to have amplifier discussions without senseless censorship due to personal or professional differences. My personal opinion is that we should respect his intentions by staying within the fuzzy bounds of ham amplifiers and not use this as a place to vent our views on other, unrelated, topics.
All of us have an opinion and, thankfully, we do have the right to express them, but I carefully pick and choose whose living room to do it in.
Best regards for a Happy New Year!
