Re: GS35 2m Amp problems
The W6PO amplifier which many have been built has the coupling cap the first component after the input connector. I built many of these and never had an issue. I believe this to be a close copy? It

Agreed,? He has the C1 coupling cap in the wrong location. I'm not understanding why the C2 variable cap arced ??? ?An anode to grid arc would not cause it...... even with C1 in the wrong

Thanks for the replies.? I get the feeling this will be a long adventure.

Re: 6 Meter Amp WTB
With a little checking it looks like Dentron sold a conversion kit to do that. Not that it matters because you will never find the kit.

Re: 6 Meter Amp WTB
I seem to remember an article on this. Not sure if it was 2 to 6 or 6 to 2? I have one person to check with. Mike

Steve - I have a Clipperton V in Colorado (Denver area) - I had investigated (very briefly) converting to 6M, and the response was roughly "yes, it can be done, no I don't have the information on

Hi Alek, Sometimes the problem end up in the place you wouldn't expect it. As you said I have changed so many things in the amp without any success need to revisit them. Do you have any

Yeah Philip, I knew you meant C2. That is fantastic news. I'm very pleased for you. When I mentioned it to you, I could have added that it took 3 well versed technical people some 3 weeks to find the

Re: Hi from the newbie.
I forgot to add. You don¡¯t know when the spider died in the Amp. If the spider was intact it probably entered and died after the amp was placed in storage. Sent: 19 May, 2025 23:34 To:

Lou has it right. Not a 555 timer problem because, as per your description, the timer circuit is working. I have no familiarity with QRO Amplifiers other that they looked good and had a good

Re: Hi from the newbie.
The 555 timer chip is for the wait timer. ?Takes about 180 seconds or so for the ready timer to complete. ?The amp doesn¡¯t have a safety chip so tech is off base. ?Check the low voltage bridge

Hi from the newbie.
Hi all. I've acquired a new to me dead QRO 2500DX (S/N 5461) that looks really clean inside and out. It does power up and completes the warm up but no keying for XMIT. I'm just getting started

There are signs of arching on the plates but is not shorted. Very narrow spaced. Need to find a wider spaced one. Philip [email protected]> wrote:

All the W6PO 2 meter amps I built used 2 fixed coils and the variable caps and worked great. Was your capacitor shorted?

Hi Mike, Sorry I mentioned the wrong capacitor. I have removed C2 Variable capacitor not C1. No radio connected , just terminated input and output. Looks like it was shorting to earth. Hope that

Re: GS35 2m Amp problems
Please clarify, when you say removed did you eliminate it or replace it? With it not there there would be filament voltage going to your radio? Just curious. Mike

Hi Alex, I have just removed the C1 capacitor from the input and the problem with the negative grid current has gone. Have applied 300o volts HT and now and problem no more. Need to check somethings I
