Hi Peter and everyone in the group.
I replace my old Pc, now I have a new machine with Win11. Try to
install G8JFCSDR and arduino but when I switch on I receive this
error:
Error @ Line=110438 (Object doesn't support this property or
method) in procedure GetVer of Class Module clsElektorSDRShield
What happens?
I didn't use software for a long time so I didn't remember the
whole procedure to let it start.
Help!
Regards,
Massimo

Hi Massimo
Sorry to hear about this problem.
I don't have any W11 machine, so I've never tried to install the G8JCFSDR on a W11 machine, so I'll have to wait for someone else in the group to relate their experience of the G8JCFSDR and W11, however I would have thought that the G8JCFSDR should work on W11 without any special 'tricks'.
The GetVer procedure is the call which the G8JCFSDR s/w makes to request the Version number of the firmware in the UNO.
Have you verified that the UNO is properly connected and communicating with your PC using something like TeraTerm before trying to start up the G8JCFSDR ?
In G8JCFSDR, U need to select the Serial I/F tab under config, and then select the correct COM port, set baudrate to 115200, 8 data, 1 stop, no parity.
If U can't make a connection into your UNO from the terminal emulator, then something very strange is going on, eg incorrect COM port, another program has the COM port opened already.
To help check your serial port connectivity, if U open a terminal emulator, eg TeraTerm, to the Com Port, baud rate 115200, 8data, 1Stop, No Parity, Line terminator CRLF, U can issue the command v<crlf> and the SDR Shield will respond with the version number f nnnnnn<crlf> where nnnnnn is the frequency in Hz to set the tuned frequency to will tune the SDR shield f ?<crlf>? and the SDR Shield will respond with the current tuned frequency
If U can't make a connection into your UNO from the terminal emulator, then something very strange is going on, eg incorrect COM port, another program has the COM port opened already.
Also from the Start Menu could you please start up the G8JCFSDR in Trace mode and send me the log file which should be located in "C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp\G8JCFSDR.log"
Hopefully we can figure this out

Hi Massimo
Since this is a brand new machine, You could also try Build 284 available from
Build 284 includes more error checking and so may be better.
You've nothing to lose if I understand your situation correctly

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your kind assistance! I will try during the weekend
and inform you.
New OS, new problems... but not depending by software, that works
as always perfectly.

Hi,
I was finally able to start G8JCSDR software that now seems to
work properly but in the main display (see attachment) I see an
inverted mirror of the main frequency and two spectrums in
opposite directions, zero in center. How to solve?
Best 73,
Massimo

And now I see that USB and LSB are also inverted so to tune LSB
stations on 40 meters I need to switch to USB!
Believe I made something wrong.

Hi Massimo
Good news that things seem to be starting to work.
The display looks like there is no Image Rejection taking place, which is usually caused by
a)? The audio input is Mono and not stereo b)? In Config, the IQ balance controls are not at zero
So step 1 is to make sure your AF input is Stereo/Line, ie stereo, and not Microphone - most laptops only have a Microphone input so if your new PC is a laptop, then it's highly likely that you are feeding the IQ signals into the microphone input jack. You can verify that the G8JCFSDR is being fed proper IQ by selecting the Soundcard input for the spectrum scope, and also Phase in the Scope mode selector, then tune in a strong AM station and you should see a Lissajous figure.
If you are sure that you are feeding the IQ signals into the Line input of your soundcard, then go into Config and on the Soundcard tab make sure the IQ balance controls are set to exactly midpoint by Right Clicking mouse over each slider control.
Lastly, sometimes the Right & Left signals get crossed over via the jack/cable from the SDR H/W to your PC which will cause LSB to show as USB and USB to show as LSB, if this is the case, then check the "L<->R" checkbox.
If none of these solve the problem, then we will need to get more serious and use some third party s/w such as Christian Zeitnitz Soundcard Oscilloscope program from??to debug the problem.
Anyway, it is still good news that things are looking quite good :-)

Ciao Massimo,?
Would you mind to share some details with us about what went initially wrong? I'm afraid I'll need to undergo the migration as well and any info about what could happen and what to avoid is very much appreciated!?
Many thanks!?

Hi Peter.
Everything is working 100/100 now. Thanks for your kind
assistance Peter!
For Dirk and everyone in this group:
After a couple of years and an upgrade to Win11, I restarted
G8CFSDR but, as mentioned on this forum, without success.
Program often crashed or freezed, so I uninstalled and
reinstalled version 282 of the software, nothing, only a lot of
errors, the port number incorrect, Error @ Line=110438, etc... And
I installed version the most recent 284.
First of all, I removed the elektor board and tried to see the
programming windows of Arduino. After a few tries, using TeraTerm
terminal and changing communication parameters, I managed to enter
the programming or at least read the response of the Arduino board
(command V).
With that done, I reconnected the Elektor board, reset the comm
port and speed, and started hearing some signals.
Now I'm fine-tuning the whole system. It seems to work fine!
73's for everyone.
