free rack, collection only
All, attached is a picture of another 19" rack the club may have. It is disassembled as much as it is possible (the biggest part is a solid frame) and I have the screws to assemble it back together if needed. Other than that, it is clean and in a working order (decommissioned today to make some space). In a few days it may go into the skip so please let me know in case you are willing to pick it up anytime soon. Cheers! -- Denis Ovsienko

Fw: [g3ymd] Nepal earthquake report
Sent: Monday, April 27, 2015 at 6:18 PM From: "'Matt Curtis' matthew.curtis@... [g3ymd]" To: g3ymd@... Subject: [g3ymd] Nepal earthquake report Nepal earthquake report The rescue and recovery work is continuing after the devastating 7.8 on the Ritcher scale earthquake that claimed at least 3,200 lives, with many missing, and widespread damage in Nepal. The Nepal Amateur Radio Society is providing emergency communications. Satish Krishna Kharel 9N1AA reports that with help from VU2 in India and others work is continuing. This includes the use of four wheel drive vehicles. Satish 9N1AA said information has already been provided on the status of about 80 loved ones of foreign radio amateurs and others. He was using solar power in coordination with the Nepal police in Kathmandu. Also sharing the emcomm work with Suresh Upreti 9N1HA. The earthquake on April 25 caused landslides on Mount Everest during the climbing season, where some lives of mountaineers and others were lost. The capital of Kathmandu was among the areas hit. An emergency net on 20 metres on 14.205 and/or 14.215 MHz, has Jayu Bhide VU2JAU/AT150ITU, the Amateur Radio Society of India (ARSI) National Coordinator for Disaster Communication, as net controller. Other VUs are involved. Activity has also been reported on 7.100, 18.160 and 21.360 MHz. Nepal's first Amateur Radio repeater, set up in 2012 by the National Society for Earthquake Technology, had a dozen hams who previously engaged in simulated emergency tests. The 9N1KS repeater 434.500 MHz in and 145.000 MHz out, is on the outskirts of Kathmandu with coverage into the Kathmandu Valley. There is no cross-border movement so far of radio equipment and radio amateurs.

Sent: Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 5:06 PM From: "DRM 106" To: No recipient address Subject: RSGB DRM UPDATE Dear club colleagues, some items of news that I hope will be of interest to you and your club members, and I would appreciate if you would pass this onto them. 'Fort Bridgewoods' book signing in Rochester. Next Saturday the 25th of April, between 9.30am and to around 2.30pm, Steve Small G4HJE (Lt Cdr (SCC) Royal Naval Reserve) is hosting a book signing event at Baggins Book Store, 19, High St, Rochester, Kent, ME1 1PY, phone 01634 811651. An invitation is extended to any radio amateur who would like to attend the book signing, to hear from and speak with the author next Saturday the 25th of April. If you are interested in reading more about Fort Bridgewoods, then some copies of the book will be available at the signing, and are also available via the RSGB shop. 4m Band Extension Ofcom have agreed the use of 70.5 MHz to 71.5 MHz by radio amateurs for digital experimentation. Use of these additional frequencies will be permitted only via a Special Research Permit. The RSGB EMC group are very short of skilled volunteers to assist members via email and phone, and the EMC committee are asking for volunteers to help them in this work of tracking down and identifying interference. This is another of the key areas where amateurs via the RSGB, may support each other and the hobby overall. If you are interested to volunteer or to know more then please email emc.chairman@... The EMC team are happy to train volunteers to use the equipment necessary, so they don’t have to come ready qualified. Full details regarding the EMC committee and some guidance material can be found on the RSGB website at http://rsgb.org/main/technical/emc/ RSGB Recruitment Recently letters were sent to around 32,000 licensed amateurs but who are non RSGB members', inviting them to join the Society. The mailing has been done by a third party who produced the mailing list after removing details of those living at the same address as existing members, everyone known to be SK and those who have asked not to be mailed. If you have received this invitation to join the RSGB I hope that you will seriously consider doing so. Subscription via Direct Debit may be annual or can be monthly from ?3.91, or paid quarterly at ?11.75. If you don't have a form, you can print one from http://www.rsgbshop.org/acatalog/PDF//join_us_form_dd_only.pdf For the Society to remain strong it needs members, and the monthly RadCom is a good way to keep in touch with goings on and developments in technology, as well as ideas for homebrew. Training Course Finder The RSGB have added a new facility on its website, which allows users to search specifically for exam centres and training providers. The URL for this new facility is at https://thersgb.org/services/coursefinder/ If your club needs any changes to their information under this page, send all updates to training.info@... RSGB Social Media. Many amateurs who are active on Twitter and Facebook, already know of the RSGB communications via these social media sites, but everyone who is signed up is asked to like/share/re-tweet the information that is sent out from RSGB HQ, so the information reaches as many people as possible. Kempton Rally - 19th Apr. Finally, I plan to be at Kempton Rally tomorrow the 19th of April, and no doubt will see many of you there. If you do attend I hope you have a good journey and find all the goodies you are looking for. Help Wanted. Are you a member of the RSGB who would be willing to help support the society and its members as a regional volunteer. I would be especially keen to hear if you're willing to help with the RSGB bookstall that we have on hand at our local rallies to sell books and give advice. Please get back to me at drm106@... if you can help or if you want to know more details. Further details and traders booking form can be found at; http://www.darc.org.uk/index.php?page=dover-radio-rally Sussex Electronics and Radio Fair - Saturday the 6th of June. It is also offering one free table area to all recognised clubs, groups, societies and charities. Details can be found at www.serf.org.uk or by email to admin@... West Kent Radio & Electronics Fair - Sunday the 13th of September. Following the successful relaunch of a rally in the West Kent area, the West Kent ARS club have booked the same venue for the coming year and plans to again have a wide range of traders. Details available at www.wkars.org.uk Advanced training - The West Kent ARS hosted the December Advanced exam for one candidate, who I am pleased to report passed. Colin was one of a number of students who during the summer had signed up to the Bath Distance Learning course, but had experienced some difficulty finding an exam centre in Kent, until West Kent ARS arranged to host the exam. The next Bath Advanced Distance Learning course begins on the 25th of Jan 2015, with the plan being for these students to sit the Advanced exam in June. For those joining the BADL course, a ?30 deposit is taken that is returned at the end of the course to students who remain active throughout and complete the course. Anyone interested in signing up to the course should email Steve Hartley at; g0fuw@..., registration closes on Friday the 16th of January. Five Bridges training consultation - Examination secretaries and those of you who are involved with the training of candidates for the radio amateur exams, should be aware of the training proposals made by the Five Bridges cluster of clubs, on which their is a consultation that has been extended until Sunday the 11th of January. If you haven't received a copy of the report or the consultation document that accompanies this, do let me know and I will send further details to those individuals who are interested. New Kent contest group - Our colleagues from the Maidstone Y ARS club have recently formed the Capel Battery Contest Group, which operates from near Caple-le-Fern on the Kent coast, and are inviting other clubs/amateurs to join them during a number of contests coming up in 2015. If you're interested in joining a contest group, this might suit you. Email g3trf@... for further details and their contest schedule for 2015. East Kent Carrier - Thanks to Erwin David G4LQI who produced the East Kent Carrier newsletter until this summer. Unfortunately Erwin was not able to continue this, and no one came forward to step into the role, so we now miss this medium of news for amateur radio matters around East Kent. Thank you Erwin for your work in producing the newsletter and for all the other contributions you have made to our hobby over the years. 2SZ 90th anniversary station - In my last update I mentioned the 2SZ special event station that was being put on at the Mill Hill School, North London, to mark the 90th anniversary of the first ever radio contact from the UK to New Zealand. If you haven't yet seen it you might like to watch the video that was produced by Jim Lee G4AEH to record the event. This is available at; http://vimeo.com/112857938 Further details of the station and background to the event can be found on QRZ.com and at www.2sz.org Club of the Year - We are nearing the time for those clubs wanting to submit an entry to the COTY award, to work on their entry and submit this before the closing date of the 31st of January. This year the judging criteria will be on the club membership age profile; training and advancement of members; spectrum use; outreach & promotion. Last year the Hilderstone club in Broadstairs won the regional leg of the award, as did West Kent ARS two years ago. It would be good to see a Kent club once again win the regional contest, if not to feature in among the winning places nationally. If your club members have been active in the past year, and can report progress or success on some or all of the criterion stated, then please consider submitting an entry. If you are thinking of making an entry but first want to talk this through, email me back and I will endeavour to help you. See http://rsgb.org/main/clubs/national-club-of-the-year-2014/ for further details about the award and how to enter. Our clubs in Kent - I am pleased to report that we still have a number of clubs in Kent where the membership remains active, and participates in a range of events throughout the year, many along the lines of this years Club-of-the-Year criterion. These clubs need their members together with new ones, who can work together to take forward training, mentoring and keeping the hobby alive in the locality. Perhaps as we move into a New Year and think of what we might set as a resolution, you would think of joining others in your club to be more active, maybe standing for election to join your club committee. I appreciate the effort that club officers put into the running of our clubs, and the welcome I always receive when I attend. From time-to-time I receive enquiries from around the Ashford area, which doesn't now appear to have a local club that is active. If anyone has any news of any informal groups around Ashford, or who would like to get something started then please let me know, and we will see what we can do to get a club established again around the Ashford area. RSGB Membership - For those of you reading this who are not members of the RSGB, may I encourage you to consider joining or re-joining the Society. Our hobby faces many challenges which the RSGB and its team of volunteers tries to address, but it needs members to support its work financially and to engage with consultations, and is also always looking for volunteers to take up some of the demand to support members with their queries. If you are an RSGB member and would like to help as a volunteer, email back to me, I'm sure we can find a rewarding role for you. If you're looking to join or re-join the RSGB, you can sign up for membership online or at one of the many rallies where the RSGB bookstall is present. The annual membership fee of ?47 paid by DD ( which includes RadCom), which can also be spread over a range or payments (quarterly or even monthly at ?11.75 or ?3.92 respectively). Membership for licensed amateurs under 21 is free, which also extends up to 25 year olds if in full time education. Online membership applications to join the RSGB or to pull off a membership form, visit the following link;http://www.rsgbshop.org/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Join_the_RSGB_22.html Well that's it for this update, maybe I will work some of you during the VHF/UHF Christmas Cumulatives on 6m, 4m, 2m and 70cms (26th - 29th Dec 14-16hrs). Otherwise, if you have an event or news that you would like me to disseminate in a future update, just send me the details, but do remember to submit your club diaries and reports into RadCom. 73 Keith - G4JED RSGB Region 10 DRM - Kent **** The information in this internet email is copyright of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB), confidential and is intended solely for the addressee(s). Heather Parsons, the RSGB Communications Manager, is doing some research to find out how members – and non-members – of the RSGB use social media for amateur radio purposes, how (and how often) they access amateur radio news, and which terminology they prefer when describing to people what they do. The results of this research will help to inform how the RSGB develops its social media presence and news service, including where it spends most time and resources. She’d be grateful if you would circulate the link below to the members of your club and encourage them to take two minutes to answer the very brief questions. https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/G2BZFK7 Every answer will count towards shaping future developments in these areas, so your input is very important. **** The information in this internet email is copyright of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB), confidential and is intended solely for the addressee(s). I have got a answer why the South East Has not got the Allocation. Ofcom consider it a Interfernce risk to Europe, as they do not have the Allocation, the Nov is only being issued on a Temporary Basis, And part of it states There must be no Interference with existing spectrum users, they consider the risk to Europe too Great. Fw: RSGB DRM UPDATE
Sent: Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 2:10 PM From: "DRM 106" To: No recipient address Subject: RSGB DRM UPDATE Dear club colleagues, this update email contains a number of recent amateur radio topics that I hope will be of interest to you. Ofcom consultation I am sure most of you will be aware of this consultation, which relates to a number of proposed licence changes that Ofcom want to bring in during 2015. If you haven't yet responded to this consultation, you have until the end of this coming Monday the 20th of October to do so. A summary of the main topics along with suggested responses can be found at www.rsgb.org/ocguidance Feedback on the consultation can be done online at https://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/amateur-radio-licence/howtorespond/form Advanced training I am aware of some potential candidates for the December Advanced exam who have enrolled on the current Distance Learning course, but don't yet have a committed exam centre. If your club is planning to run the exam on Monday the 8th of December, or you know of a centre that is doing this, please let me know. 2SZ 90th anniversary station A special event station 2SZ is operating from Mill Hill School, North London, until the end of today the 18th October 2014 to mark the 90th anniversary of the first ever radio contact from the UK to New Zealand, thus proving it was possible to span the globe by radio. The UK operator of this first contact was 18-year old Cecil Goyder who was a pupil at the School. 2SZ was the callsign used by Goyder, and it has been specially re-issued by Ofcom to mark the occasion. An interview was conducted from this anniversary SES by the Radio 4 'Today' program this morning (Saturday the 18th) around 7.20am, with Dave Lawley G4BUO who is well known for his planning and operating experience with special event stations. Further details of the station and event can be found on QRZ.com and at www.2sz.org Extension of 2m band While many will be aware of the NOV that is available from the end of this month to operate between 146-147MHz, little mention has been made of the areas where this additional spectrum is not being permitted, which includes Kent. Details of this restriction were made in the initial consultation document, but have been overlooked in the recent announcements. Details of this can be found on page 31/32 of the document at http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/consultations/vhf-143-169mhz/summary/VHF_consultation.pdf K for Cornwall The RSGB have released a statement in response to the online discussion of a unique callsign identifier for amateurs who live in Cornwall. The statement reads; “Earlier in the year the RSGB was asked by Poldhu ARC, one of its affiliated clubs, to submit to Ofcom their request for the secondary locator “K” to be allocated to Cornwall on an optional permanent basis. The Board passed on the request but decided not to support permanent use of K. It came as a surprise when Ofcom advised us that they have agreed in principle to the use of the secondary locator “K” prefix for Cornwall and we await details of how their decision will be implemented. We expect further information after Ofcom have considered the responses to the current licence review consultation.” An article on this matter from the local Cornish press can be found at http://www.cornishman.co.uk/Hayle-local-radio-amateur-leads-way-Cornwall/story-23182956-detail/story.html Club of the year We are at the time of year again when all clubs are encouraged to consider entering for the Club of the Year award. In the past three years the West Kent ARS and Hilderstone clubs have won the award in Region 12, now we are in our new region, can a Kent club still win among the other clubs around the South East? Details of the award and the criteria can be found on page 8 of the latest RadCom, but is also online at www.rsgb.org/coty. Do please let me know if you want to talk through submitting an entry. Promoting amateur radio The RSGB is working to raise the public profile of amateur radio and to recruit newcomers to the hobby, for which it has setup a working group to share best practice for when running public facing special event stations. The focal point of this working group is a Yahoo discussion forum where you are encouraged to share your experience of running SES's, which will establish recommendations that will then be shared with all UK clubs. This working group needs your support and all UK clubs and societies are encouraged to participate to share their approaches in organising public events, what works well and what doesn't work so well. RSGB and affiliated club members are welcome to join the Yahoo group 'RSGB_Inspire' https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/rsgb_inspire/info to take part in the discussion. That's it for this time, hope it is of interest, if you have any news for sharing then please get back to me. If you are reading this and are not a member of the RSGB would you please consider joining the society, as it is critical that we maintain a high level of membership to counter any adverse changes to our licence and operating privileges. 73 Keith - G4JED RSGB Region 10 DRM - Kent **** The information in this internet email is copyright of the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB), confidential and is intended solely for the addressee(s).
