The club recently entered the 144mhz Trophy contest scoring over 100 qso's with good contacts to Germany and France, The question is how do we Improve on this?
?
Firstly Operators
?
The contest was Operated by myself with help from Nick G4ZXI- how do we encourage more Operators?
?
Training
?
If we encorage more opps, we need to do training evenings on the equipment, logging and operating,
operating a contest is very different from a raqchew, it can be fast and very brief
?
It's possible on 2m to end up with a pile up of a contact a minuet
?
key points there call sign, the correct siginal report and there locator, all 3 can lose or gain you points
?
A vhf contest is mainly scored one point per km, so the correct locator square is critical
?
The kit can be heavy and cubersome to set up, But what we have access to between myself and trevor is capable of serious power and qso's
?
When else can you play with high power VHF, large arrays, and contest grade rigs?
