a few waterfall screenshots
Denis Ovsienko
Hello club.
I was sorting through some temporary files and found the attached screenshots, where you can see about the best results my Funcube Pro+ delivered on 40m on days with especially good conditions. As far as I remember, one of the screenshots even stands for a desktop scanner antenna. -- Denis Ovsienko |
Hi dennis what I'd like to setup next time at Capel, is using a sdr the waterfall of the 144mhz, My Ic746 has a Tap board on the first IF but not got as far as playing with a SDR connected to the Tap Board.

This is how it's tapped

Doubled checked it's configued as a 2nd rx Tap, so according to Dave at Hup Rf, it's as wide as the sdr can view

Well, if it works as you expect and provides a lot of bandwidth, at 60MHz you will be able to use even a cheap Realtek dongle as far as the dongle frequency range is concerned. That delivers up to 2MHz of spectrum. Anyway, whatever the bandwidth of the tap is, it cannot be changed easily but can be seen easily once the connection works. One thing that is within your control is the voltage level so that the tap does not overload or damage the dongle. I have got a set of 61 resistor nominals ranging from 10 Ohm to 1 MOhm, which possibly can be used to pick the right nominal for Realtek. Funcube is notably more sensitive but both dongles have amplifier gain control so you should be able to bring them down to the same level, solder one resistor in place permanently and swap dongles as required. I can bring the resistor set and a working SDR rig to the next club meeting if you want to try your transceiver in between of the dongle and the aerial. -- Denis Ovsienko |
