Many thanks !?

Dear fellow radio amateur's,

My name is Patrick M0ZPK. I am a member of the RSGB's Training and Education Committee, and currently the Project?leader for one of the society’s training projects.

My working group is tasked with creating a set of training resources to support new candidates, who perhaps are worried about entering a course or are struggling. Its hoped it will also help tutors designing a new course
or updating content as well. It could also make accessing training for new candidates and licence progression easier.
?
It's NOT intended to be a mandatory framework to force tutors to do things in a certain way, but I?like to think of it as a way to mark the dedication and expertise of the amateur community. We all know tutors that pushed us forward and enriched our training. Some of whom are sadly not with us, or have left the hobby. This project is a way for the whole community to pass on our knowledge and experience to new candidates, and maintain some of our training history.

With a project like this, I feel its important to get the views of the amateur community, so that the outcome represents the best that we can offer and prove to be more useful. Kent is my home county and I have met
some of the trainers and amateur's in this county, who I know have a lot to offer. So my first point of call is this e-mail, in the hope that Kent can lead the way in this project.

In this context, we are using resources to refer to things like web pages, printed documents, books, videos, audio recordings, downloadable software or content. Tutorials, power point demonstrations etc. The Training and Education committee is working on a new “train the trainers” course though this is being handled by another working group.

Some of the content already exists and hopefully as trainers, assessors and past students, you can point a way to them so they may be considered for inclusion in my training project. Some of this content may not exist and will need to be created, but again, your opinion and experience here will be invaluable to me.

To make things easy I have come up with the following questions, that you can answer. If you have other opinions or ideas?that are not included in the questions, feel free to include them as well.

Questions for past Candidates :-

????? - When training, what resources and materials did you use that you found?useful ?

????? -?Is there anything you think would have been useful during your training?? ( perhaps you found after )?
?
????
Questions for Tutors :-
?????? -?What resources do you find most useful when delivering your courses ?
?
?????? -?What resources do you think would have been most useful for you or your?candidates ?
?
When answering these questions, feel free to write anything that you think will help others. Examples might be
or the RSGB band plan or perhaps a downloadable script for the VHF on air practical??
?
Anyone can answer these questions, and I would like to hear from every amateur in Kent. Most trainers will have created their own resources. Perhaps you could suggest an outline of what you have created, especially if you consider the wider amateur community might benefit from it.
????????
The first stage of this project is to identify what resources should be available for candidates and tutors. That is what we are working on here.

The second stage, is to identify which of those resources already exists and can be used.

The third stage, is to set a plan to create the missing resources.

Please e-mail your response to
m0zpk@... It would be helpful if you can include your name, call sign and club, if you have one. I will try and acknowledge every one I receive. I am also working on a method
to keep people informed of the status of the project and give credit to the people and clubs that have given their time to support it.
?
So hopefully soon you will all see how many of Kent's amateur community?have helped contribute to the new training framework, which will be used to train future candidates coming into our hobby. I now look forward to hearing from many of you with your input as outlined above.

Many thanks and 73

Patrick M0ZPK (
