Subject: Nearly ready for the off! IMPORTANT FOR ALL

Hi everyone – I’m starting to feel as if the preparations are nearly complete…….perhaps I shouldn’t tempt fate!

The two bigger rigs, Nibsy and Solent Challenger, are in Dagenham as I write this, ready to be loaded for the 10pm sailing, and no doubt Bill (Nibsy) will text Charles and Doreen (hot lips) Lewry later to put the first update on the web site………You have now been reminded to send your daily updates!! ………….as far as I can tell, the journey for Dave to bring the new rig and trailer up from Bristol went smoothly, and he’s now swapped vehicles and handed the reins for the bigger horse power, to Ziggy and Chris for the rest of the journey – good luck to them.,…………should be there on Sat/Sunday.

The remaining convoy:-

·?????? Truck papers – please make sure to bring V5 Log Book or copy, VE103 permission to hire, MOT if there is one…….

·?????? Friday 10am please as usual, at the Services on the M20 Junction 8, for departure just as soon as Ian and the Maidstone team have got the radios fitted in Mummies and the Posties (Thanks Ian). Please don’t arrive much before 10am, as the 2 hour parking clock starts as soon as you arrive……..and getting exemption, whilst possible, never seems easy.

Reminders – tacho discs (correct calibration) or digi cards – SPARE WHEEL – (my tyre guys recommend 90 on front and back tyres) – SPARE TRUCK KEYS in case of loss, ?mattresses for outward AND return journey so we don’t all have to stop at a hotel just because one person doesn’t have a mattress – Driving licenses, snack food for outward and return journeys – cab kettle – cab travel mugs – plates and cutlery – food additions to fry-up (we will bring bacon, eggs, mushrooms, toms and cooking stuff – Can someone else bring bread, and milk, beans…..cake? (Mummies perhaps?)

·?????? Full tanks of diesel please on arrival at the Services, so that we can get away quickly – We use Asda near Bluewater on the way down as it’s cheapest.

Reminders – work gloves, penknives for opening boxes (not in hand-luggage!!) , mobile phones, credit and debit cards, cash……..enough euros for meals AND the Hotel which usually doesn’t have a working card machine, (prices will be 30Euro single, 40Euro Double single occupancy, 50Euro double and two person occupancy, and 60Euro Twin bedded room) passports AND PLEASE a photocopy of it kept in a different bag just in case the passport gets lost/stolen, EHIC cards (was E111), pocket cameras (belt bags), (Large cameras will get in your way), ………a fuller list is on the new member web pages, not to mention ‘old faithful’ the Handbook!
