Strane SMA on REAR.

Edited

Hi to all!
I have a great FT817ND... bought used, replaced the internal battery and all run well. I replaced the "light" power connector with a coupler that provide two Anderson connector from Windcamp.
I noticed about a small SMA connector on rear... I don't know why it is here... Some friends told me that it can be a wide-spectrum signal from IF (???). Someone know something?
?
Thanks to all,
IU0MJE, Riccardo.

Without any additional information we can only guess. It would be good if you could open the radio and see where the wire from the connector goes.?

The most likely explanation is to send an IF signal out to an SDR dongle (like an RTL-SDR or SDRPlay) to give you a band-scope for the radio, but that's only a guess.

Tomorrow I'll have to open to see what they did to this great radio!
Today I have played with the 817 and SVXLINK and RIGCTL... My voice mail run well... It could be interesting configure the SVXLINK like an audio streamer like Echolink.

I mounted a small SMA on the rear of my FT817ND. It is used as the output of the IF (68,33 MHz) to watch as a spectrum display on an SDR module. I use the FUNCube dongle, as recommended. See photo. W1GHZ described the circuit:

Or maybe contact the person you bought it from and ask them?
