New yaesu 818nd owner wuestions

Just got the 818. First qrp rig. Looking at LDG z-817 for a tuner and at either rig aa-35 or i-portable i30 or i60 antenna analyzer any thoughts
Steve

The LDG 817 tuner is very?easy to connect,?use,?and is?compact size.?I keep mine on top of the radio with two silicone rubber bands snugly even over the Portable?Zero frame.?Radio, tuner, mic, tuner data?cable, tuner-radio 1-ft. coax, all fit into a Pelican 1400 case. Antenna, misc other stuff in ?RedRock shoulder bag. Also have an AlexLoop antenna that comes in its own bag.

Hi Steve:

That LDG tuner should be a good "match" (no pun intended) for the FT-818, since the 818 is pretty much an 817 with some updates. ?

However, I would also recommend the Elecraft T1 tuner which is just as capable and smaller is size, which is a good feature for field operation. ?Elecraft also has a cable available which connects the 817/818 to the tuner, so that it will track band changes.

Skip the LDG tuner - get an Elecraft T-1. If you are going to be portable at all, you'll thank me for the advice. If you're not leaving the house, doesn't matter.
