Maplin part no. AR22Y seems to be OK, though this is listed in the

catalog as 4.0mm x 1.7mm. You also need a lead AQ81C. The wire looks a tad on the thin side for a possible 2 amps transmit, but I haven't found a source for a plug you can attach your own wire to. Doubtless the dealers will sell an official Yaesu power lead, which probably also has a fuse in it. Julian, G4ILO --- In FT817@y..., "David Henn" <drhenn@y...> wrote:

I used a Radio Shack Adaptaplug adapter that is meant to be used in

conjunction with their power adapters. These types of plug adapters may be obtained locally for those of you near stores that sell power adaptors. The Radio Shack Adaptaplugs are right angle adapters with two pins sticking out that normally would plug into the socket at the end of the DC output cable on a power adaptor. I carefully soldered my own heavier wire to the two pins, !!! observing polarity !!!, and taped it up with a good brand of electrical tape. Heat shrink will also worked well, or you can epoxy it. A 1.7 X 4.7 mm Adaptaplug to fit the FT-817 is a Radio Shack part number 273-1706. You folks that don't have a Radio Shack available can go on their web page <> and do a search for the part number to get an idea of what I am talking about. You can likely find an equivalent at most any store that sells power adaptors. In the drawing on the web page the picture looks like there is only one pin connection but the other pin is behind the one in the foreground. And no, I don't work for Radio Shack. (I've got questions? They've got blank stares!) 73, Charles WA5VHU -----Original Message-----

I only wish I could find a right angle one though. 73, Bob in the woods of Vermont |
