LDG Z-817 issue
I recently acquired a used Z-817 tuner for my FT-817. I set the CAT to 38400 as specified in the FT-817. No cables to computer - just the FT-817 and Z-817. When I hit the tune button on the Z-817, the FT-817 immediately goes to Packet mode (as it should) but also to MTQMB and to a frequency of 32.999.99 MHz, and leaves the FT-817 in packet mode at 3 watts. Doesn't seem to matter the starting mode of the FT-817. In CW I can hold the key down before starting the tune sequence and it does fine - tunes the antenna and retains frequency and mode.? Also, disconnecting the CAT cable and manually initiating the tune sequence, the tuner does fine.? It just seems to be giving strange commands to the FT-817.I have installed fresh batteries.? Any ideas?

I wonder if anyone has one that they wouldn't mind someone extracting the code from? I have an AT-897. It has a PIC microcontroller. I had to repair the unit when I got it (I bought it with the understanding it needed repair). While I had it apart, I extracted the code from the PIC. It wasn't code protected. I doubt the Z-817 has the same code, but I am able to extract the code from PIC and AVR microcontrollers and flash new ones. maybe this will lend a clue? Did it maybe get switched inadvertently into a different mode? On Thu, Sep 15, 2022 at 10:28 AM Al WB9UVJ <markaren1@...> wrote: Sounds like the software may need to be reflashed. |
