Installing the YF-122S SSB filter

 

Hi everyone

I recently bought an FT-817ND in excellent, little used condition. I have now obtained the SSB filter and installed it.

When I go to menu #38 the only options I get are OFF and CW.

What am I doing wrong?

OK I worked out what I was doing wrong.

The tune knob is so sensitive that I was seeing OFF and CW but not SSB in between )c:

Well done Mike. At least you didn't install it upside down like I did!

In fairness, I based that upon seeing an eBay listing image of Murata "equivalents" installed "upside down" in an FT 857, but it didn't stop me from returning the filter to the retailer and then having to wear that egg!

Bad luck Steve. I don't feel so bad now!

I had my first QSO with the 817 yesterday on SSB with a chap in Cardiff. Impressed so far, but so many settings to learn ...
